Things are starting to fall into place.

Goldwire, Withers, and Alexander ripped it up tonight.

Great win to start conference play! I’ll take any win…one…two…or three points, it doesn’t matter. However, someone has to ask the question…any defense tonight? The shooting percentages were very high on both sides. Yes we are playing better but our D must improve.

I couldn’t make the game so I did not see what happened. Anyone? Great win, big test with Dayton coming up. Go Niners!

Our inability to defend anyobe scare the shit out of me. Unless we shore that up we are dead once we get into the quality part of the league.

You know they only played Rhode Island right?

Bobby was FURIOUS after the game about our defense. He didn’t even allow Lee to come out for the POG honors. And when Bobby got on mic, he had no problem expressing his disgust in our defense tonight.

Personally, I just felt RI had one of those nights where they couldn’t miss. A lot of the outside shots they hit were contested, falling away shots. Sometimes a team is just on fire and there’s not much you can do about it. Sure, we definitely have some defensive weaknesses but I felt we played a great game in every other area. I’ll take the “W” and hopefully our defense will improve against Dayton because that’s going to be a very tough place to travel to.

Actually Lee left early I think. I saw him at Harris Teeter getting snacks. Probably wanted to see the big game.

Excellent win tonight! Thoroughly enjoyed watching some good niner ball. Great job guys.

 • Withers had 25 pts on 8-10 shooting including 2-3 from behind the arc and 7-11 from the ft line.
 • 4 players in double-figures (Withers 25, DA 21, Lee 20, Baldwin 14)
 • As a team we shot 64% from 3 (14-22)
 • As a team we shot 80% from the ft line

Our defense looked bad at times but RI also did a very good job of hitting contested shots. Lutz also said in the post game that people have been packing it in on them all year because they have shown they can’t hit from behind the arc and they hit tonight. We may have not helped things with our D but like JCL said, I think they just had a very good shooting game.

Overall, a lot of positives tonight.

64% “high percentage” shot were great (Niners trademark as always). But, 80% from the line is outstanding. Dream came true. Dumptruck ability to pass is a great thing to see. Mitchell shooting touch is back. Great game tonite Niners !

The passing, except for one bad one each by Mitchell and Leemire, gets better and better. When Coleman gets the ball in the high post, good things happen. Withers did a heck of a job of controlling that ball and then powering to the rim.

I agree… we did give some open shots, but they also made quite a few tough ones. They hit 3 or 4 long 3-pointers in the last couple of minutes. It kind of scares me that we continue to rely on the 3 so much… that gives you the potential to lose to anyone on a bad night (guess we are use to that though).

We played relly well for the first 10 minutes of the second half. If we had played like that all year we would only have one or maybe two losses. At least we are showing improvement.

Anyone know what the technical foul on Nance was for? Did he throw an elbow or something?

What was with Lutz getting all pissed at Withers at the very end? All the other players on the court were laughing about it.

I can’t believe we let Rhode Island score 80. Wow.

But a win is a win.

Nance hit that guy with an elbow. Looked incidental, the guy Nance hit, was latched onto Nance and it looked like he was just trying to free his arm

Is it just me, or was Nance looking upset the entire game, especially near the end. I mean damn, I know he isn't the jolliest fellah on the team, but he looked rough tonight..

I think you’re right. Nance was trying some of Scooby Dooby chicken wings maneuvers. But, . . . we didn’t have the crew from Rutgers game tonight.

If I’m not mistaken Lutz was screaming at him half way through the first half. May be that explained why he looked the way he did.
