GW road trip

I drive a jetta, but its been lowered with low profile tires. Its hard to ride in the car for more then 45 minutes. Stiff suspension. PLus I must run 93 octane, which can get expensive. If it was like a championship game, or maybe an undefeated streak, I would make the painful journey

so, what do you have this car for then?
so, what do you have this car for then?
to drive. you know, what cars were meant for.

driving is no fun if the car is boring.

OK, I’m in. Just got off the phone and reserved my ticket. There are approximately 50 people going to GW so far. There’s even a group coming from NY. Should be a good time.

Usually I dont drive my car for more then 30 minutes at a time anyways. Never really driven to far.

Three of us from CLT are leaving friday night at 7pm…1 coming from NYC…1 coming from Pittsburgh!

Nice little spring break for us younger alumni!

just to update…5 total from CLT, 2 from High Point, 1 from NYC and 1 from Pittsburgh…

More importantly, who is picking me up?

Er, it’s not on my way.

Looks like I will be there.
We may be flying up and back the same day.

FYI, you can fly non-stop from Charlotte to Reagan and as NLP pointed out, take the Metro directly to the GW campus. You don’t even have to go outside to catch the Metro. The same line also stops at the Smithsonian and is close to most of the other sightseeing stuff.
FYI, that same metro stop can be used to get to the reception before the game also.

Iam4UNCC . . . you are wrong buddy. We now have 10 people going. 5 leaving from C-town, 2 leaving from somewhere near High Point, 1 from NY, 1 from Pittsburgh and finally the 1 who lives there. It is going to be a blast!

Anyone heard where these alumni seats are? I know from our NY friend that when he did this for the Fordham game he sat behind the 9er bench. That would be sweet.

I have a good feeling about this new alumni gatherings . . . I feel it really taking off. They will probably run into problems in the near future because their won’t be enough seats for all those interested. Bummer.

If you're flying, Reagan is the way to go. You can take the Blue Line directly to Foggy Bottom where the campus and arena are. Definitely the way to go. If you decide to fly to Dulles, you can take a shuttle (it's -relatively- inexpensive) to the Orange Line (it's either East Falls or West Falls Church) and also take that directly to Foggy Bottom.

It’s West Falls Church. And for anyone’s information, from Charlotte, Dulles will typically be the cheapest airport. US Airways sometimes has a cheap flight to Reagan, but not usually.

If anyone is thinking of flying, wait until US Airways puts out their last minute deals e-savers that they will probably put out on Tuesday? Flights from Charlotte to Dulles round-trip are typically less than $180, and can be as cheap as $100 with the last minute deal, which is a pretty frequent occurrence for US Air between these two airports.

The Bus taxi to Reagan from Dulles is $40. Whatever you do, don’t take a Washington Flyer taxi into the District from Dulles…it can get pretty expensive. Also, as said, probably the best thing is to take the Metro bus to the West Fall Church station to get into the District.

And for anyone going that way, when you pass the crazy upside down black pyramid on the toll road, that is about where I lived until September. Make sure to think of me.

I think I am in; just to clarify, does the $20 include a game ticket?

Gracias, Go Niners.

This is a great picture of jj at his private best, but if we had a shooter like him, I wouldn’t care if he scratched his ass crack during time outs!

Yes. De nada.

Represent us well boys… I’ll be watching from a poolside bar in Jamaica. :drink:

Just because we’re taking my car doesn’t mean i have to drive…SHOTGUN!
A lot of us students won’t go because we’ve made trips to Richmond and Wake just to see us horribly lose.
I made a trip to both those games and left sad. However I am planning on going to this one as well and hoping 3rd time is the charm. How likely will I be able to get tickets outside and even though I am a student can I get tickets through the university?

A friend of mine works at GW and said they’re sold out…i’m sure scalping is always an alternative…plus it is senior day, on ESPN and its the last game of the year…might be a little crowded…
