I apologize, seriously, and excuse my lack of keeping up with this, but WHY have we not signed anyone yet? Thanks.

Missed out on Dauda, Cleveland St stole him late, used our young players (depth) against us stating he wouldn’t get the same minutes he would here as he would at CSU.
Time will tell what we can do. All I know is we’ll never recruit as good as ECU.

Anyone else care to share some more ideas or info?
we have a very firm verbal from a kid named sidney finch from the outback of australia. very few hoops people have any knowledge of him at this point, and major is understandably concerned that if his name gets out, we cold be over-recruited. (basden might have heard something and could fill us in???) anyway: 7’2", 290+#. reputed to have excellent feet and hands. 46" vertical (you do the math). half-marathon champion in his district as well as top times in the 800 m. and low hurdles. never played basketball except playground stuff, but is a striker in soccer and has received attention from some of the ausssie pro scouts. apparently, his parents are very religious and have tried to protect him from many of the world’s snares, but major & co have won their approval. we should be hearing abt this shortly, so keep your ears clean.
Is this for real?
are you serious?
I laughed.
LOL
This is great news!!!
That was worth a good chuckle.
Sports Illustrated did an April fools day article around 1986 about a secretive monk from the US who could throw a baseball faster than 110 mph and the Mets where trying to keep it a secret working him out in private. SI purportedly had interviewed a few in the know and had everybody in the sports world talking. They finally confessed it was fiction but reading the above post brought back all those memories.
I just had a Martin Iti flash-back! :
Syd Finch, lol
YES!
“ITI FOR THE DUNK! And he misses…”
He’s a playmaker, part yogi and part recluse. Impressively liberated from our opulent life-style, Sidd’s deciding about yoga — and his future in basketball
They claimed he could throw 170+ mph on his fastball with pinpoint accuracy, but he had to have only one shoe on to do it for perfect balance. And people bought it!
The best part was the sut title to the story.
“He’s a pitcher, part yogi and part recluse. Impressively liberated from our opulent life-style, Sidd’s deciding about yoga”
Here is the SI article. Sure, you know it was a hoax now, but when I read it back then they suckered us big time. It is worth a read.

Disappointing, but great to hear of someone who wouldn’t have gotten all the playing time they want here.
