Either one of these mid majors deserves to go as well, but I always appreciate the votes!
I went to the Tire Bowl this year ('08) wearing Niner gear. I was approached by many Tar Hole fans who went to other ‘lesser’ schools and wanted to talk.
One guy was an ECU grad. He told me, “Hey ECU beat West Virginia, that means WE should be able to.”
Another guy was a Charlotte grad or student. He said something like go Niners. I asked him why he was wearing all that periwinkle garb. His response was, “I was born here (pointing to his clothes) but I went to school there (pointing at my clothes).” He then extended an olive branch to me with a high five. I walked up to him with my hand held high, and did a last second about face.
Also, throughout the game, I tried to start 49er chants. I was very obnoxious.
