Hudson Price

If he transfers here and sits out a year… And we win the national championship this coming year and mark price gets poatched, can Hudson transfer where his dad goes and play immediately or does he lose a year? And yes, I know this is premature, geeez Hudson isn’t even in a niner uniform yet.

but you can always dream! if all that happens, I’LL pay his way to whichever school he wants to attend!

Let’s hope he’s a chip off the old block, or at least a splinter.

His son should be glad he hasn’t been disowned after having ft% in the 60s.

No word on whether he takes a schollie in that article, but I’m going to assume he is.

Welcome, Hudson!

how many schollies do we have for 2017? i assume he doesnt count as a schollie for 2016.

THIS is BEYOND disturbing. :o WTF!!???

Step off the ledge, it’s called a joke.

do you mean that some things we read in the shout box aren’t exactly, complete TRUE??? :o ???

Does this mean coach Price will be here at least three years so he can coach his son?

Georgia Tech fans won’t be as confident that he will leave us for them after this year. That is for sure.

Never bad to bring in a 3-star recruit

Could his son just transfer again to GT as a walk on?

Not sure I’m following, are you saying he gets to go to school for free because of that? He doesn’t. We do have 1 schollie we weren’t using.

His numbers his first two years are Benkovic like. I guess 6’6’’ shooters are always good for depth. Just weird that this seems very, very late in the game…and he’d have to sit out a year unless I’m missing something, whether on schollie or not.
i thought that children of state employees went to school for free. either way, i hope he comes as a walkon so we don’t have to use the scholarship. i feel totally differently about this if he is not a walkon.
unless something changed, children of university employees get free tuition.
That is mistaken, children and spouses do not get free tuition. An individual, faculty and staff (I believe it affects staff too), may take one course per semester without paying tuition. I’m on faculty and I have to pay for my son to attend a state university.

not sure i agree with that sentiment. three star is about average for what we bring in, nothing exceptional and this kid has played two years in college so whatever he was ranked in h.s. doesn’t mean a lot. i’m not bashing him but i really hope he doesn’t tie up a very valuable schollie and that is based on him only averaging 2.8ppg at a program like tcu.

Maybe he only gets a scholarship if we go into the season with an open one left. Shouldn’t impact us at all.

Welcome aboard, Hudson, glad to have you join Niner Nation.

Did well here (on the court anyway).

I wouldn’t be down on Hudson Price necessarily. He doesn’t immediately look like an all-star or anything, but he does seem like he could have potential to be better than his stats suggest.

TCU was not as bad last year as in previous years (probably why Price played more as a freshman than a sophomore). They had a pretty good OOC (even if it was a bit weak) and then ran into a buzzsaw in the Big 12, including a stretch of 6 straight games against ranked opponents. They’ve been upgrading the talent since moving to the B12 and had some impact transfers of late (including Trey Zeigler from Pitt and Chris Washburn from UTEP). They only played 2 listed guards regular minutes, Zeigler and a small pg named Anderson. I’m guessing Price was essentially a backup to Zeigler or maybe behind one other forward, though maybe if Price was better they would’ve played more 3-guard lineups.

He’s listed by TCU as a guard, seems to play that way on offense (hit around 40% of this 3’s on 33 attempts), but his quickness and size strike me more as a slower small forward than a wing guard player. I bet he struggles some on D, but I haven’t seen him play in a regular game, so that might not be true. He could be intriguing as a more versatile small forward than what we currently have if he’s crafty enough on D to keep up with other small forwards/3rd guards, but still sometimes match up with bigger opponents. Right now we don’t have a ton of small forwards for next year.

So I think he’s definitely worth the scholarship, and could develop into a solid, maybe even a good player for us.

I don’t think the scholarship issue is a big deal. Coach Price wants to win, and he is rewarded financially for winning, so if he has a chance to sign a player that will make a difference and needs a scholarship, I am sure one will magically appear.
