I’m at work and can’t listen to it. What did theysay about nil?

We’re @ 1.4 million. USF is tops in the AAC with @ 8 million. Goal is to get to @4 next year. That’s not going to be easy though.

Hunter also said the NIL situation was most likely a factor in Hill’s dismissal.

Did he say where schools like ecu rank?

God almighty what is USF doing? Running coke?

From what I could find online ECU football is between 4- 4.5 million this season. Way behind USF and way ahead of us.

Don’t focus on what other schools are bringing in, focus on how pathetic $1.4m is. No-one is going to be successful with that. TA was crazy to take this job if he knew that. I don’t even think $1.4m covers the total cost of the ADept. No wonder everyone in the AD hated biff, I am sure he walked up and down the hallways screaming, ā€œwhat the F do you people doā€. And once TA’s seat starts getting hot, he is going to start doing the same thing, if he wants to keep his job.

Where did you see that number on ecu?

USF’s ascension is telling. In 2022 they were 1-11, we were 3-9. They hired Golesh (who I really wanted but know we couldn’t afford) and we went with Poggi. They bowl in 2023 and 2024 now are in an excellent position for a playoff spot with wins over Boise St and Florida. We are one of the worst teams in FBS.

The rise to respectability and then prominence can happen quickly, but it takes the right coaching hire and money. It’s TBD whether we got half of that but it’s painfully obvious we are well short of funding. They were also able to afford that NIL while constructing a new stadium.

Google search. Saw multiple numbers for football. All were between 4 and 4.5 million. I wouldn’t go to the bank with those numbers but they were consistent. Their Pirate Club fundraising and membership against our Athletic Foundation is laughable. They just spend money, well like drunken Pirates.

Hunter said we had around $1.2 million last season, but later said it was hard to know how much Biff was contributing. That confused me a little because Biff’s GMA collective was the only football collective we had up until January. So if that’s what GMA had, that’s probably all the NIL we had last season. It was nearly impossible for the average fan to donate to the GMA.

I think Biff was doing some stuff personally
Outside the collective.

Which most likely would have been illegal.

Yeah I’m sure he probably was. Which was really stupid because he could have got the program in a lot of trouble and could have pretty easily funneled that money anonymously into the collective.

The picture is becoming clearer and clearer why Mike Hill is longer here fouling up all this NIL stuff.

That was a big reason he got fired. He kept doing and wanting to do things that would get us in trouble.

And I think it shows why he hired Biff to try to shore that up.

Not sure i am following all the logic here, Biff brought in ā€˜all’ the NIL thesis. If so why would he fire him prior to end of season weeks before portal recruiting? The logic would say you would keep him for a couple years, while you build up NIL to prepare for next Coach.

How did we recruit Albin to come with little to no NIL? to work the portal.

Basketball apparently had NIL $ last year and this year, we were told they had a good amount for NIL this year.

Because everything on this board re Biff is nothing more than emotion, guessing, conjecture and innuendo. I think, I feel, I have to believe, I’ve heard somewhere etc… and my favorite, I am sure he probably…….. that is a contradictory statement, you can’t say you are sure and then say, well probably. If anyone has any evidence of him doing any of these things that some are accusing him of, please present it. Not hearsay. Now we are hearing about possible illegal activity and someone posting something about his Collective and gambling, don’t really understand that one. If any of that were true, Yes, get him out of here, 100%. But also, if any of that were true, why didn’t we self report ourselves to the NCAA?

Part of the state budget this year is to give part of the taxes from sports betting in the state to the athletic departments at the state supported universities. It was reported the amount could be up to $10 million dollars for each FBS school. The budget hasn’t been approved yet so that money isn’t coming. That has nothing to do with Biff.

And if Biff wasn’t doing anything behind the scenes for NIL then the $1.2 million Hunter reported for football last season must have been it. If that’s the case we actually ended up with more NIL after Biff left.
