LOL, yes it kind of does. Appreciate the email. I appreciated a lot of your points.
That was under different leadership. I might try now.
Believe you have the cart in front of the horse, Langston. You are not going to get interest UNTIL you start giving us coverage. Seems you want that interest without showing you are going to cover our program. Great example shown by absolutely no coverage on the Tulane game. If you think, based on past experiences, that we will all of the sudden start reading the O and then you begin coverage, you are never going to be on the same page as us.
No not saying that. Saying there will be more coverage and when there is, the metrics will be studied our end. If those stories start showing an upward trend….
I KNOW it’s you. I’m not the one saying you’re a troll.
Can’t uptick if you don’t cover. Would have “upticked” today as we were all checking.
More coming
Langston, please tell us how/why there waa nothing on yesterday’s game in the O. I wont even ask about the dozens of other games also with nothing over the years…just this last one. Seriously? You guys have to be trying hard to NOT cover us at this point…And while youre over here acting like something is going to change. Its not like you would really have to spend a lot of time ramping up your staff to cover us. At this point, just running other papers stories or AI articles would be an improvement.
Also, how are we supposed to click if all this stuff is behind a pay wall? For a long while you could read articles about HS or the AC but every Niners article was paywalled. They all had little lock icons
That may not be the case today, as I’m not sure how the pay wall works now, but that was infuriating.
No story about Tulane game? It has to be intentional, SMH. I will be very surprised if we become the hometown team in the O. Fans must be hearing about us somewhere as attendance is increasing.
Very po’d no story on Tulane game. I expected no coverage It’s like they’re just sticking it to us now.
clt says it again
Well, I understand a little about the non coverage of our away game at Tulane.
On the other hand, they could have at least cut and pasted whatever the New Orleans press put out. Assuming, of course, that they actually cover local teams there
Wait are you telling me in a city with an NBA team and NFL team and multiple other larger more recognized D1 programs in state that the paper still covers the local University and they likely do it as a commitment to covering local news vs just trying to drive clicks?
What an amazing approach.
“Even then, the Wave worked hard to pull within 37-31 on two free throws by James with 17.7 seconds left in the first half, only to watch Milicic drain a 25-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer.
“We played that perfectly,” Hunter said. “He threw a wild shot up. We played the last possession against UTSA perfectly, and a guy that hadn’t hit a 3 all game hit an off-balance one.”
“Threw a wild shot up”. That was a designed play(although ouck got set really high due to defense) and Igor stroked it. Igor even started to turn and throw up the 3 sign as it was going in.
I’m not necessarily throwing shade at the O but I’ve been around a long time on this board as well and there are reasons no one goes to what should be our “home” source for Niner information. It’s years of neglect, and as someone already said, it is a chicken or egg type of situation. Sure, historically ACC has been king in this town. But this town has evolved with the growth of the city, the university and influx of new out-of-state residents of varying demographics. Many of those do not have ties to the ACC and are potential new fans for a major university playing competitive athletics at the highest level/division in THEIR town. IF the local source of “news” took ownership of the home town university, I am sure that would impact both the school and O in a positive way as well. Mutually beneficial has been stated but it truly is not a situation where you can write a story and say well… if it doesn’t generate clicks then we can’t justify. That’s nonsense. Help build the hype, that is what mutually beneficial means. As the hype builds, fans will seek information sources. The hype is starting and I am sure sources of information will follow.
And for the record, the NOLA site did gain a click for me and I wasn’t asked to pay to read it.
I’m sure many at the O and in the city will ask:
“Why they no pull for Dem 'eels? Dem 'eels is God’s love for us in physical form. Why they no pray to Great Chapel Hill God?”
There was not a wire story available. I suppose we could use the school press release like I saw a few TV stations did. I put it on my socials. I think it’s the same thing I’ve been saying: viewership/click through was and has been down for some time. We have new leadership now and a chance for a fresh start. More content coming and I’m hopeful you guys will engage with it.
Always willing to take a look.
