ESPN player evaluation

Strengths:Djimde is a strong and physical post that plays with great energy. He rim runs at high speeds and works hard for low post position. Djimde is more skilled in the post than he appears. He scored with quick elevating turn shots and displayed a nice touch off the glass as well. Djimde also showed the ability to shoot the jump hook with either hand. He power dunks drop off passes created by dribble penetration as well picking up a basket off the offensive glass. He is a rim level defensive rebounder and excellent weak side shot blocker. Djimde is also a good enough athlete to defend on the perimeter in addition to the post mainly because he has terrific lateral foot speed and quick hands for an inside player.

Weaknesses: Djimde must continue to hone his skills in the areas of ball handling and passing. He must also keep working on developing his feel for the game in addition staying out of foul trouble by gambling for steals.

Bottom Line: Djimde is a strong and physical post presence that can score in the low post, rebound and block shots. He plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor and has tremendous upside.

Jacob Lawson trades dunks with Ibrahima Djimde at The King James Shooting Stars Classic

I would say that Lawson probably got the best of Djimde in that video, but nonetheless, we need a big man and Djimde sounds like he has the tools to be a decent player. We need to get Pierria Henry to go have a visit with his fellow statesman and talk some sense into him.

I find it kinda funny that Lawson gets teched right after his dunk. ^-^

He looks like he could be good. I am glad we have offered. I like the idea of actually having 2 centers for once. I also like our chances against Marshal and Cleveland State.

I take it you haven’t been following Niners recruiting for long. Marshall totally cleaned our clock and beat us out for about 5 recruits in 2 years a few years back, including that shot blocking machine from Gastonia (I’ve forgotten his name, hasaan something?).

Hassan Whiteside… likes evening gatherings on wood benches in Sacramento, soon to be Anaheim.

Cleveland St. has been a better program than us in the past 5 years. We should not have the mindset that we will land a kid because we are Charlotte. It doesn’t carry any weight right now.

I agree. This messageboard is no place for either optimism or school pride. We have no basis for optimism nor is that your role as a fan. Your role, punkrockcowboy, is to affirm at every opportunity that every program is better than us.

We have plenty of things to offer, that’s not what I’m saying. But making it sound like a no-brainer is stupid.

Charlotte is the bestest school in the history of schools. This should be a no brainer for Ibrahima!

For real though, kid should come here and be another solid addition to an already solid class. Lots of playing time available.

He is on a powerhouse team from WV…I believe its where OJ Mayo played. Has teammates there who signed with Louisville, Cincy, and also…Cleveland St.

Glad to see the staff still working. Seems like he would be a good get for this stage in the game. We def have opportunities available, and it looks like this coaching staff is really focusing on 4 yr players, not jucos.

Hope Major can reel this kid in. A center with his size that he could mold for 4 years would be a steal for us.

This guy looks like he could be molded into a Pops Mensah-Bonsu type.

ODU saying they have offered and St. Bona is expressing interest in Ibby.

could be visiting Indiana, per twitter.

per his Prep coach: RT @rfulford: Huntington Prep 6’9 C Ibrahima Djimde will take official visits to Indiana, Illinois and Old Dominion

Indiana has added another wing and is out of scholly’s so Dijmde is likely not going there.
