I'll be as nice as possible...

Bibby wasn’t making much more than $200k per year…is that not in line w/ our budget? Just trying to make a point nicely - love the way dissenting opinions are respected around here!

Originally posted by Pino Pipes Jr.@Dec 6 2004, 05:42 PM USC just fired Henry Bibby - the second coach in two years fired in December. Bibby's USC record was not dissimilar to Lutz's at Charlotte (.539 vs. .603) and prior to the past two crappy years at USC - Bibby's teams averaged 18 wins/yr versus 19 for Lutz.

I guess my point is that nobody is immune. Luckily Charlotte has not tailspinned like USC over the past two years (13 wins each of last 2 seasons), however should Lutz continue losing games like Alabama and Rutgers, I think that Rose & Co. should consider other alternatives.

I can’t believe that a school hasn’t scooped you up as their athletic director yet…

Let’s take a closer look at the great Coach Bibby. First he averaged 16 wins a year which in fact is alot worse than the 19 a year that Bobby averages. Second in eight years as coach he took USC to the NCAA’s 3 times playing in a high profile, yet weak conference. Bobby has taken us to the the NCAA’s 4 times in his six years, which is considerably better that 3 in 8 years. Bibby coaches at a school with one of the largest alumni bases and one of the largest athelic budgets in the country. USC is located in a town that regularly places 6 to 8 kids on the top 100 national recruiting lists. Bobby coaches in a state that regularly places 3 to 6 kids on those same lists and he is at 5th highest profile school in his state.

I think most rational people would fail to see much of a correlation…

Has Lutz ever taken us to the Final 8?

Has Lutz ever taken us to the Sweet 16?

Tell me your point again???

I’ll spell it out for you: B I B B Y S U C K S and You are a I D I O T.

One coach in the history of this school has taken us to the final 8 or the sweet 16.

All you NOTRE DAME/NINER FANS need to get a grip, going to the NCAA tourney is a HUGE accomplishment and we have been there the same amount of times as Carolina and NC State the last 6 years.

So success in your mind is an Elite 8 that is built upon consecutive losing seasons?

With expectations like that you should really be a Villinova fan.

I work with a Vandy grad and he said that Plav and Stallings didn't get along because Plav didn't buy into Stallings' system. Stallings told him to either play within the system or get packing. Lutz would never instill this type of discipline.

And for Lefty and every other Lutz supporter out there, I just have to ask you to open your eyes and see how badly we get outcoached every game and it really sucks when we have some really good talent year in and year out.

Atl,

I would agree that I have questioned some of Lutz’s play calling this season too. But 2 things I would argue.

As for never seeing Lutz instill discipline, what about Grier? Or Matas?

And as far as talent, Alabama is no slouch. The best player on the court was not wearing green the other night.

You’re right…he was wearing white and his name was Curt Withers. Given the opportunity, 33 points would not have been the high scorer.

Why shouldn't they think that? We've had such success getting players into the NBA. By my count we have 1 right now, and he's a bench warmer who sees limited minutes.

I agree we lack discipline in certain areas, mainly shot selection. But I doubt we get the players we do b/c they think we play street ball and that will get them to the NBA. The reason I think that is because we have the afore mentioned 1 former player in the NBA right now.
