This past year was Antwon Coleman’s first year and when I first heard about him, people told me his nickname was dump truck. I’m not sure where it came from but once I saw him for the first time, I pretty much got the idea. But I am still not exactly sure of the logic of his nickname.
Was it just because he was a big dude? Was it because he was a big dude who could ball? I mean, dump trucks are big and bulky, but without them the job would never get done. Maybe that was the idea.
I ask because, as many of us have seen, Coleman has shed a lot of his weight which justified the “Dump” part of his nickname. So, is Dump Truck still Dump Truck? Or does his nickname need some modification? Should he now be Pickup Truck? Or perhaps F-250 Quad Cab?

yeah, i heard people calling him dump truck. someone said it had to do with him pushing over large tires or something? maybe my friends are on crack…
The rumor is that he breaks him open a cactus everytime he wants a drink of water with his bare hands. I also heard he made Pops Mensa Bonsu change his name to moms n pops because Dumptruck is his daddy.
He got the name from his weight-losing workout. Greene found a huge dump truck tire on the side of the road that he picked up and had Coleman use it to workout with. The Observer had an article on it, but the link no longer works. Here’s the thread from last year when it was discussed:

We don’t need him to shoot. We will have plenty of those. We just need him to rebound and play defense. As good as he seems to pass, I hope we use that part of his game to help free up our 3-pt guys.
