Is everyone confident that the 'powers that be'

will deliver Kelsey, Dooley or Hopkins as the next Head Coach?

I was. Until tonight

Guess there is just too much downtime til the weekend, I’m starting wonder more about what will happen if we get left at the altar by all 3 of them.

What happened tonight that made you change your mind?

I’m still confident that we will land one of the three.

I heard from a reliable source today that we cannot rule out Buzz yet. I’m not kidding, and I’m not happy about it.

Wow! fire Bobby to get a real winner for our program. This does suck the big fat [glow=green,2,300]GREEN[/glow] weenie. We may need to start the Fire Peterson thread soon. ;D

wonder if we have the same reliable source. I’ve heard this too

If Buzz does get hired, hopefully the rumors about the money behind him are true, I get the feeling a lot of people around here might find something else to do with their 49er Club donation money next year…

Hopefully Buzz is only on our list as a fallback plan, I don’t think he is a terrible candidate, but he isn’t going to excite the fanbase like an up-and-coming assistant would. We need something to be excited about, Buzz Peterson is not that something.

Please. No Buzz.

If this is true, the ones doing the pushing have no idea the animosity it would create in our program with loyal fans that have supported the program financially for years. More money and fans would end their support for the program with his hire than those pushing Buzz could replace.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see his name come up as another interview at the Final Four. Somebody is really high on this guy being our next coach, and that support is making a difference, unfortunately.

Guys relax - From my source: i can promise you this - the "powers at be’ are extremely excited about the candidates they will be interviewing this weekend.

Has anyone contacted Cliff Ellis yet? I have it from a source that he’s interested in the coaching position.

My source can beat up everyone else’s source.

“Excited about” and “willing to pay fair market value” are two different beasts. I’m more concerned about the latter from what I hear 'round town.

My source lost a split decision to Cass’s source.

My source wouldn’t stand a chance in a fight, doesn’t dampen his/her validity.

Have you met my source, Lou, ? Better hope ur source goes by the name Chuck Norris!

Still has no chance against my source:

(I figured I’d go ahead and start with this if we hire him.)

I’ve been seeing the talk about what it might take to get Kelsey, Dooley, or Hopkins, but I am wondering what a fair scale would be for someone who is either becoming a head coach for the first time or is becoming a head coach again after being kind of demoted to an assistant coach from being a head coach. Should we pay more than what we were paying an experienced head coach? Should their contract be more incentive laden initially, and then changed over to more “real” funds at renegotiation time? Just curious of what people think about this.

you are correct in that i cannot speak to the willing to pay issue. But from what i have been told - i can tell you that the ones who are making the decisions could not be more excited about the candidates and the fact that they want to be here. i would think that we’ve had enough preliminary reserach to know that we could in fact offer what was necessary to get those that we wanted.

that post was confusing.
