I've seen the same thing since 1978

I am a diehard Niners fan and have been since 1976. Began my freshman year in 1977 and have seen this crap for 27 years. Same old thing. Lose to the little guy after taking a big lead. I am hoping this year will be different, but after tonight’s debacle, I have some doubts. I try to be positive. Hell, I don’t have Butter to blame anymore. The worst shooting free throw team year after year. It seems Lutz would get a clue and forget setting up plays twice a week and concentrate on free throws, only. I am totally embarassed.

EJ, so far, is about 5 times worse than Butter. On both ends of the court. Actually maybe 10 times worse on the defensive end.

I hate I couldn’t be there tonight to see these guys. I live an hour and a half away and have my kids this week. They want to come to some games, but too much homework. I feel bad for blasting the team since I haven’t seen them live this year, but maybe when we do come, they will look much better.

this loss is just enough to keep us out of the AP/ ESPN polls, as always. We will never be better than a #25 team, but never worse than a 50. Same shit year-in-year-out.

Little guy???

Last time I checked we played in one of the top 3 conferences in the country.

Look I agree it was an upset, but it wasn’t like you were playing a chump team from the SunBelt conference

Good luck…i hope you guys kick major butt to help our RPI

PatrickRU, Sorry for the snub. I meant no harm. Ya’ll beat us fair and square. I guess I was referring to this as a game that we should have won. At least on paper and me believing our own hype. Thanks for the call on my bad and also for the good wishes(kinda) and good luck to Rutgers.

This is one of those dangerous games. I think we all got alittle big headed after killing LBS. We should have won tonight but what can you do? I don’t believe Lutz doesn’t working on free throws. I think we have a lot of player on our team that just aren’t fundamentally good free throw shooters.

In all honesty, I thought we would win this game but I knew it would be a really tough test for us and would say more about our team than what we did Friday. Yes it was an upset but you guys have a very well coached team and flat out beat us tonight. We’re certainly capable of playing much better than that and hopefully we’ll see that in our next game. Congrats on the win and for making the last two days of my abbreviated work week pretty miserable.

I haven’t been a fan as long as oldniner has but I do agree that what I saw tonight is awfully redundant of many seasons past.

no problem oldniner…

I know our recent basketball history is nothing to crow about.

FWIW the RU board is absolutely buzzing with excitement, and frankly thats because we respect your program in a big way.

You guys seem like good guys–except the guy who referred to me as “dickmunch” on another post.

Good luck guys and I mean it.

Patrick, last year we got humbled by a George Washington team we all thought sucked. They actually turned out to be a pretty good team. Hope you guys are pleasantly surprised this year.

We were outcoached by a mile today, kudos to the Rutgers staff for making some awesome adjustments.

Patrick, we also hope you have a geat season. I hope you go undefeaed in the regular season.

...from the deepest of our RPI hearts.

I guess we see why they didn’t want us in the Big East.

We are all used to seeing this every year whether we have been fans for 50 years or fans for 5 years. I want to think positive and hope we got our bad game behind us.
