I debated on whether or not to post this, but I think it’s probably too funny to let pass.
As a lot of you know, I continue to help with the 49er Basketball Band when I can, and last night I was directing since Cory Dover was indisposed. Early in the first half (probably 8-10 minutes into the game), I was standing at the bottom of the band section near the cheerleaders and ballboys with my headset on. After Frease (aka The Creature in Young Frankenstein) traveled in the lane for like the fourth time, I said to no one in particular, “He is walking all over the place!” I turn around to see Jamie Luckie staring at me. He stared at me for a good 3-4 seconds WHILE A PLAY WAS GOING ON. He then told the game management that if I said another word, the team would be teed up and I’d be thrown out. Needless to say I was a mime the rest of the game.
Now, I sort of understand the fact that I was WORKING at the game and not there as a fan, so I should probably not voice displeasure so much, but two things bothered me.
I didn’t say anything offensive or inappropriate in terms of language.
I wasn’t even yelling at him. I didn’t even know he was there until I was being stared down.
Upon reading online a little bit, Jamie Luckie is apparently up there with Ted Valentine in terms of being a diva. I was told after the game by some folks at the scorers table that he was staring at our students a lot in threatening ways too.
Anyway, that was my drama last night. Just thought I’d share.
Those refs were quite lackluster last night. I am disappointed that he was so worried about TF when the game was going on as it was.
And TF, since you pulled your self out, let me say, you upset quite a few last night for starting a song ontop of the 40-9ers chant last night towards the end of the game.

Yeah, I figured as much. But I start the band up when they tell me to over that headset. The band director actually has very little say in the matter.
I figured you were being instructed over the headset when you cut short that great rendition of TUSK. The band’s version of that ROCKS!
I know, and we had to cut it off right before the best part too. I was sorta ticked. If I had it to do over again we would’ve played that one at the 8:00 timeout - we had all kinds of time during that one.
The fact that he was worried about a guy in the stands while the game is going on is disgraceful. A10 refs are the absolute worst.
You should have pulled a Valvano:
“I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can’t trust em.”
Is this pretty standard around the NCAA? Or is it central to the A-10 and other non-BCS conferences?
Jamie Luckie isnt just a “A 10 official”. He called the NC State vs Chapel Hill game the night before. These guys bounce from conference to conference.
Football refs only work for one conference, but basketball refs are in a pool/region that work all the conferences in the region. They can work ACC one night, then have a Southern Conference game the next night.

That’ll learn ya not to mess around with the FootLocker boys while on duty. It’s a great story and thanks for sharing. Go Niners!:49ers:

I know this.
But does he behave this way when he officiates ACC games? Does he give threatening glances to the student sections at Chapel Hill and Cameron?
3. The Coley pushing foul on the block out during the missed FT.
The refs had three, maybe four opportunities to call a foul/technical on Derrick Brown for shoving Coley. I guess part of Coley's fro crawled up Brown's ass.
