Probably likes the roster and hopes he can play with those guys.
i love the roster and the fact that the next coach will have a great foundation PLUS some wiggle-room.
when lee rose (HC, Transylvania College) was introduced as the new head coach (in the old Cone Center), the 2 or 3 media guys in attendance asked their questions; and then there was plenty of time for any others.
one or two students stood up with something, and then cedric maxwell (you can love him or not) raised his hand. ‘who’re you planning to recruit?’ he asked.
and i’ll never forget lee’s smile and reply.
"Whoever you want, big guy!"
vision & commitment.
the beginning of the golden age of men’s basketball at UC.
per Jarvis’ facebook:
well charlotte didnt work out....BUT there's always a backup plan...lets jus say the SUNSHINE STATE may be my new home for the next 4 years..!!!!!
unfortunate. Can’t say I blame him though.
Follows Jones to UCF.
At least there was one good thing about the article…
Davis, who had committed to the University of Charlotte earlier this past season, had already decommitted after Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz was fired two weeks ago.
Oh well, best of luck to him. Hopefully we have an announcement next week and some similar news.
Oh well, it’s hard to blame him. Hope he does well in C-USA.
Good luck Jarvis!
So we now have 0 commits correct?
Correct. No different than most other years. I hope whoever we bring in is capable of signing a recruit early in the signing period. Our recruiting philosophy with Lutz and his staff always seemed to be chase big names we have little shot at landing until they commit elsewhere then sign the garbage that is left over and hope for a late bloomer.
So we now have 0 commits correct?
Correct. Yes and No. Briscoe will be joining the team, and will be occupying a schollie this coming season. We have 4 available for our new HC.
this is one reason why we should be announcing a head coach by the end of next week, imo. get him on the ninertrain and get that puppy rolling.

No need to rush this decision. We have enough to compete next year without using those scholarships (we would be paper-thin, but still…). We shouldn’t rush this to attempt to help ourselves next year, we should make the right hire and help ourselves for the next 5+ years.

don’t get me wrong… I agree that the search should take as much time as it needs to get the right guy in here. that said if the AthDept was on the ball, imo, that would be by the end of next week.
maybe we can start recruiting gelawn guyn, get mcdonald, and sign some sort of backup small forward, maybe harmon and then save a scholarship for 2011. i would be very happy with that class.
Correct. We also have 0 coaches. I think we are working on that one first.
Davis is committed to Central Florida? Just wonderful.
Just FYI Briscoe is also exploring his options to leave as well. He was not under schollie this year and is actually able to leave if he would like. He is NOT 100% certain to be available for Charlotte next year either!
Davis has officially signed w/ UCF
