Jarvis Davis - 2010 PG

Just realized we didn’t have a thread for him after the site debacle.

Welcome to Charlotte Jarvis.

Hargrave finished the season 23-0 last night.

Jarvis had 12 points and 6 steals. From all the game reviews I’ve read, it seems like he’s probably averaging ~12ppg and 4+ steals per game. Assist #'s were pretty impressive as well. I’m glad we have signed someone who seems to be a defensive specialist with an offensive game that has to be respected as well.

Good call moss. WELCOME TO NINER NATION JARVIS!
I think he will be a very productive player for us. He has been starting almost all year over Isaiah Epps, a 4 star who has committed to Pitt.

Welcome to Niner Land Jarvis!

niner land sounds like a ride at 6 flags…haha. I think CArowinds should name a ride after the Niners. That could be cool.

Here is some stuff from the archive of the pre-crash thread on Jarvis:

Write up from National Prep Showcase November 22,2009:Jarvis Davis, 2010, Hargrave Military Academy: With Isaiah Eppsnot available as he had some academics to handle this weekend accordingto a Hargrave assistant, Davis drew the start at the point guard spot.He made the most of it, as he constantly attacked the basket and eitherfinished or drew contact from defenders. He showed no fear going upagainst bigger players, and was able to get into the paint often. Whilehe is undersized, he is quick on defense and was a playmakeroffensively.

i went to see hargrave play a game this year against patrick henry because im a huge fan of lorenzo brown. davis actually does start for them and isaiah backs him up but davis plays the bulk of the minutes. he seemed to be pretty athletic showing it by dunking on a guy at the buzzer sounding to half time. this kid will be awesome in Lutz system because he’s fast athletic strong and he has the height on him. he can really pass it too and the best part of his game is him defense. he can get to the rim and score with the best of them but he need a little work on his jumpshot but that will come over time but to me he’s ready. he will bring alot of highlights and wins to the program because from what ive seen he and brown are the leaders of the team. he should be the starting point guard for the next 4 years at charlotte. watch!!!

his facebook status says big 12, conference usa or southern conference.

Good luck to him where ever he may go.

I’d rather the new coach have his on players even if the cupboard is a little bare next year.

OT: Are you really following our recruits facebook pages?

Maybe those are the conferences he’s rooting for in the tournament

i was on facebook and i saw it as his status and it struck me as interesting.
Poor guy. He’s already gone through the recruiting process twice and now he’s probably going to have to go through it again. Hate that we are (probably) losing him, but I understand if he’s wanting to go elsewhere.

Per ESPN’s insider updated today, he is undeclared.

learning it that way is probably a lot better with the NCAA than friending him on facebook.

Lay off, he was committed here, going to be a player here, don’t bash the guy for friending him on facebook. It’s not like he was going around friending random guys that we’ve offered or are looking at to see if they post anything on facebook.

you guys do realize that the new coach might very well be interested in re=extending the invite if Jarvis is still interested?

It’s not automatic that he isn’t coming here, and he certainly isn’t precluded from doing so.

We still need another PG.

Let’s wait and see how this plays out.

And bare cupboard? WTF are you talking about? This team is almost fully setup for next year with almost 75% of its scoring back, plus deuce briscoe. This is about the best situation a coach could step into. this team will be a favorite to win the A10 next year.

Cupboard isn’t bare, but we have a serious need at backup PG and backup SF.

That made me laugh. Wishful thinking though.

Instead of laughing, you should be checking the returning rosters across the league.

Yea, I’m seeing a Temple team returning Fernandez, Allen, Eric, and Jefferson. I’m seeing a Richmond team that returns almost everyone of note (including A-10 POY Kevin Anderson and NBA Prospect Justin Harper) except Gonzalvez and Butler. I see a SLU team that returns everyone, Reed, Mitchell, Ellis, Cassity, Remuken, etc.

I haven’t even mentioned the two Ohio teams. Xavier can possibly return everyone except Love if Crawford doesn’t go to the NBA. Throw 4 top 150 recruits in the mix, a string of years since a home conference loss, and I have a hard time seeing how they aren’t the favorite.

Dayton brings in the highest rated recruit in the conference and the best recruiting class in the conference. Chris Wright will probably be back, Chris Johnson will be back, and they also get Drake transfer in Josh Parker who averaged 10 points a game at Drake.

I looked at the rosters, and I want what you are smoking if you think we are going to be the favorites to win the conference.

Of course we have a majority of our players returning. But my point was more so the new coach system may be such that some of those players may not fit it. Even though Judy said that each player must stay for 1 year with the new coach doesn’t mean everyone will be back.

The crack is apparently affecting your reading comprehension. I didn’t say the favorite.

BTW, Crawford is going pro, and the muskies are losing their best interior player - Jason Love. Losing Gonzo and Harper is going to cripple the Spiders, and Temple is losing Brooks and Guzman and Allen may go pro.

Even if any of these teams has 11,000 top 150 recruits coming in, it doesnt change the fact that we are going to return the first or second most scoring of any of this year’s contender teams in the conference. The reason I said a favorite is because SLU will return most of their scoring as well.

And while a few people are desperate to call next year a waste, the truth is, it’s an ideal situation for a new coach. This roster is in fantastic shape compared to most programs who fire a coach after a disappointing year (as oppsoed to one that moves on). Most coaches have to have an immediate infusion of talent like Cal had to do by bringing in Cousins and Wall to kentucky. That isnt the case with us. We need another PG, a solid wing and a backup big and we’re set. It’s an ideal situation for a new coach, and that coach may want to talk to Jarvis Davis.
