As some of you have seen, Langston Wertz broached this topic on twitter. I’ve pulled in that tweet, others supporting the move and my own commentary. Enjoy!
I didn’t feel like diving into this piece of it, but I feel that the AAU/Travel ciruit will be in for some seroius overhaul soon with all this stuff occurring, so I think it makes for great timing for McInnis to get into college coaching right now too.

While I understand the negative sentiment with AAU, that doesn’t change that it’s impossible to stay away from in basketball. Adding someone like McInnis would only help us out. Many players are much more loyal to their AAU program than even their high school these days.
AAU is what it is, you can’t win without dealing with it. I think more good comes from it than bad. Just like with anything else there is always a few that give it a bad name.
McInnis has legit ties to this area and his name carries weight in the travel circuit. I think he’d help us win some battles for local kids right away.

FWIW, it hurts my eyes to read this font. I can’t be the only one.
Seems like people might be dancing around the issue, so I’ll be the guy who says it:
McInnis makes sense if he can secure commits from in demand local guys like North Meck’s stars - Jaelyn Withers, Tristan Maxwell & Vaud Worthy.
Yes, I realize these guys have high profile offers. But trying to build a fence around Charlotte is the point of hiring guys like McInnis & Dink.
Putting together a Charlotte prep all star roster under guys like this would be extremely fun to watch, and I know it would sell a lot of tickets. But can they do it?
I’d be absolutely stoked to see those guys playing for the hometown team with a couple of other local stars. Too bad its too late for Leaky Black and Wendell Moore. Would remind me of that Charlotte Aces AAU team that had Withers, Grier, Drayton, and McCants on it. We got three of those guys and had some of our best years with them. So the AAU all star team model can work here. It’s proven.
Also, 2k, WTF with the comic sans? Some kind of in joke I am not privy to?
No, he would need to start as an assistant. I think it makes too much sense to not get him there. I’d look at DeMarco, too, and DInk. Charlotte guys who love Charlotte. Get a good HC with them and fence in not just this city but most of this state. Jeff could help you do that. https://twitter.com/Barstool49ers/status/947923423732396032 …

I am convinced. I say do it now.
clt says Wentz loves some CHeat.
If Mcinnis did because became a coach, would his (Wentz) son committ to us…Jaelyn Withers, Tristan Maxwell, Vaud Worthy, & Trey Wentz would be strong. Edit- didn’t realize Maxwell was only a sophmore.
