Any opportunity to play a team like Wake we should take, no matter what the venue.
If we could play an ACC team year in and year out⦠eventually we can hopefully move the games to Halton.
And look at all the walking places to the new arena⦠There should be a pre game get together and an after game get together if the marketing department is smart. Have a lunch gathering also somewhereā¦
TURN DOWNTOWN CHARLOTTE GREEN BEFORE THE GAME⦠Use this as a great marketing tool.
I only hope that weāll be able to put our logo at center court in the Bob. Otherwise it simply wonāt be a home game, and wonāt help with recognition.
I remember the first season Davidson played in Belk Arena @ Baker Sports Complex, OOC foes included Duke, Virginia, and Miami-FL. Of course, none of those would play at Davidson now.
Anyway, I donāt like the idea of playing a home game at the Charlotte Arena, even if I only have to walk 5 blocks from my office to get there!

I'll take the WIN over the court design. You could play it on top of a mountain for all I care.

Or will the ticket office say only season ticket holders and UNCC students are allowed tickets in the lower level, potentially leaving empty seats?
To me the student section will be the kicker in whether or not we have a genuine homecourt advantage at the Uptown Arena. If the students have to 1) pay or 2) are given crappy seats compared to the Wake fans only the die-hards will show up. I don't think they'll mind the drive or paying for parking, but if they have to pay for their seats that are usually free or there are Wake fans with better seats than the students at OUR home game they will be mad and many will be no-shows. When Davidson beat us at the Big I in 1995, a large portion of their fans were sitting in what was ordinarily the student section. As a student at the time, I don't know who I was more angry with after that game, their fans or our administration for giving them those seasts. I hope we can make the best of this situation even though it is not ideal.
I think we could have 10K plus fans for that game, throw in a few thousand Wakies and it would approach a sellout. I for one would really welcome that atmosphere.
The worst that could happen (and with us it usually does) is that we play during a holiday break or something stupid when there are no students on campus. I will predict that WF will make it very difficult for us to schedule on our terms.

Iāll take all of that bet. The City of Charlotte has not supported any college games worth a damnsince the new Coliseum opened. The average attendance for the last 9 college games involving ACC teams (excluding the ACC tournament) is 10413, or about one-half (20200) of what the Charlotte Arena facts page states the set up will be for college basketball.

The game in the Cathouse is a long time off, but I can already see the empty seats on TV.
I donāt think it will be that bad. Look how well the UNC-CH / Davidson game drew compared to all the others. We will draw more than Davidson. The question is how many fewer will Wake draw than UNC-CH?

I knew the question would arise. Look at it this way.
