Jerome Seagears - Rutgers transfer

FSU, Charlotte, Seton Hall & Boston College also inquired about Rutgers transfer Jerome Seagears, Flora MacDonald (NC) HC Derrick Bond says.

Also:

Arkansas, GT, WVU, Cincy, Auburn, Depaul, FSU, Maryland, Alabama, K-State & Arizona have called about Rutgers transfer Jerome Seagears.

A sophomore so he will have two years remaining. 27.2 mpg, 6.5 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 37% FG%, 38.1% 3PT%. Started 19 of 31 games last season.

We could do a lot worse. However (1) he’ll have to sit out next year and (2) if we aren’t very good next year and the school makes a move he’ll be back to square one.

Wonder if there’s any chance he’d get a waiver of the transfer year from the NCAA, due to the extreme circumstances at Rutgers. I would think a player could make a fuss about it if he wanted and get an exception.

I like his 3 point (38%) and ft (74%). I’m not too impressed with his overall fg%, but we already have slashers and inside scorers. It would be nice to bring in some jump shooters so I would be pleased if we landed this guy.

THIS.

For point of reference, his recruiting thread out of HS: http://ninernation.net/index.php?topic=27202.0

He had a sophomore slump, could be related to getting belted in the head with basketballs during practice.

If he can get a waiver, let’s sign him up. I’m thinking we’re gonna need some immediate help next year. I’m not saying our returning players are not good. I am saying we do not have enough of them. Obviously, we need some more depth.

i could see taking this kid.

Isn’t Lester a shooting guard? I do not remember. It will be nice to have 4 solid guards because we’ve had a tendency to lose one on occasions.

I am usually not the one to be negative, but with the way recruiting has been going this year, you all are asking the wrong question. Better question is not whether we as fans want him, it is whether he wants to be here.

Had in home w/ Baylor and Marquette yesterday and set to have one w/ WVU today as per his HS coach on Twitter.

Down to Auburn & Arkansas.

Apparently Arkansas fans are tweeting him like crazy to come there. I am sure that is against the rules, but it is the $EC, where rules don’t apply.
