All I know is that the coaching staff must like something at New Hampton Prep, Mitch Mullis will be attending there next year before he signs with the 49ers.
The Enterprise’s summer basketball recruiting stories ran today, large stories on High Point U’s incoming class and of course, the ACC round-up. No mention of any other in-state schools. We did, however, get an honorable mention in the national recruiting classes by school.
Trinity quintet off to college

Trinity made history in March by winning the state 3A basketball championship.
The Bulldogs’ five starters keep enjoying the benefits of such an accomplishment.
Every starter for Trinity, which stormed to a 31-1 record and handled Dudley 73-64 for the state title, will continue playing sports in college.
Guard Josh King (24 ppg) will take his amazing shooting range to East Carolina on scholarship. Point guard Tim Kelly Jr. (9 ppg) will play at UNC Greensboro as a preferred walk-on. Center Dustin Everette (15 ppg) is bound for UNCG after originally signing with Gardner-Webb.
Forward John McEachin (16.4 ppg) has a football scholarship to Western Carolina and forward David Idol will play football at Methodist College.
King, who shot 55 percent on 3-pointers last season, was a late ECU signee. The Pirates clearly wanted the 5-10 King because of his shooting ability, but Trinity coach Tim Kelly believes King can do other things to help.
“Make no mistake about it - Josh can flat-out shoot the ball and he works on it religiously,” Kelly said. “But he’s also a good on-ball defender and good ballhandler. He’s a smart kid, he sees the floor well and I think he’ll get a chance to play at both the 1 and 2 positions.”
Elsewhere, High Point Central’s DeMorris Cobb plans to play basketball at Rockingham Community College. The 5-10 point guard averaged 19.1 ppg, four rebounds, three steals and two assists last season.
At High Point Andrews, Mario Melton will stay off the basketball court in favor of playing football at Grambling State University.
At Westchester Academy, Jacob Briles will play a postgraduate season at Bridgton Academy, a prep school in Maine.
The 6-7 Briles averaged 20 ppg to lead the Wildcats to a state independent schools championship last season. He scored 37 in the championship game. Two former Westchester players - Britt Hutchens and Con Fechner - probably will wind up at Rockingham Community College.
At East Davidson, Mitch Mullis will attend New Hampton Prep in New Hampshire, the same school that produced UNC’s Rashad McCants. Mullis, who has verbally committed to Charlotte, averaged 21.8 points and 10.3 rebounds last season while shooting 65 percent from the floor. He plans to play at Charlotte as a freshman in 2005-06.
At Southwest Guilford, James Crowder committed to Wingate but may wind up at Livingstone. The 6-5 Crowder averaged 17 points and 6.5 rebounds last season for the Cowboys.
