Maine gave up no runs in 5 1/3 IP on Saturday, and lowered his ERA to 3.77. He got roughed up a bit in his previous game, so it was good to see him bounce back. He still doesn’t have a decision in three starts.
Ryan Baker has been called up to AA and is pitching for the Carolina Mudcats. He is throwing relief, but has only given up 1 ER in 9 1/3 IP thus far in his stint at Jupiter and at Carolina combined.
Baker was shafted this past spring training. Baker was supposed to be placed in Albuquerque of the Pacific Coast League (AAA), but was put back to A ball. His career ERA in AA is under 3.00. He resently met with team officals to express his concerns.
Baker and team agreed that if he didn’t move levels in a timely manner, that the team would provide his release.
Baker throws 90 with a good change-up. He was actually traded from the Braves organization in the Spooneyberger and Mike Hampton trade with Colorado and the Marlins.
