Center Joseph Scelfo (Bogart, Ga./North Oconee) picked up a Big East offer this week and hopes that there will be a few more that follow.
“Syracuse offered me last Thursday,” Scelfo said. “I feel great about that one. Louisiana-Monroe said that they are going to offer me on August 1st. [UNC Charlotte coach] Brad Lambert said he hopes I am his first commitment, so I think I have an offer from them as well.”
Lambert coached with Scelfo’s father, Chris, at Georgia under Jim Donnan. Scelfo also said that he’s hoping to take unofficial visits to Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech in the very near future. Both programs are recruiting him as well.
"I plan on committing soon, said Scelfo. "[In] September or early October."
During the season Scelfo said he plans on visiting Appalachian State, Florida state, South Alabama, UNC-Charlotte, La. Tech, ULM, and some others.

I think I will surprise most people! #anxious
Sounds like he plans to have a redshirt year. That doesn’t mean it is us, but he would have to redshirt here.
Most freshmen redshirt these days regardless, so Lambert isn’t at a disadvantage in recruiting because of it.
What he can offer, however, is an instant starting spot and the chance the set the bar at the position for the life of the entire program. Pretty cool opportunity.
Im anxious too! I would think a 3 star chosing a startup program would be suprising to most people who dont know anything about what we are building here!
Come on Joseph! Niner Nation wants you to be a part of history!
Scelfo’s father, Chris, who is an assistant coach with the Atlanta Falcons, and Lambert coached together earlier in their careers. Playing for Lambert is something Scelfo would love to do.
“Carolina was fun,” Scelfo said. “The visit worked out well because my father was up there with me because they played the Panthers last week. I really like the city of Charlotte. The campus is neat and the buildings are new. They are building a new football field and offices. Everything will be brand new and they are starting football in 2013. Of course I love Coach Lambert and I have known him a long time.”

Scelfo has set up an official visit for Louisiana Tech (Jan. 6) and likely will visit South Alabama in late January.
“I will play in the Marine all-star game [Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl] in Phoenix and then visit Louisiana Tech," he said. "I am considering visiting FSU and Syracuse next month as well. I want to see if a new team comes in on me. I want to see what happens there.”
Scelfo, 6-foot-1 and 285 pounds, is the nation’s No. 12 prospect at center.
