So you can tell me with a straight face that Charlotte was close to landing Rajon Rondo, Ish Smith or Von Wafer. I thought Wafer was considering jumping straigh to the league from high school.
Yes, as well as the others - Demarr Johnson included. Like chi said, Ish always had his eyes on the ACC (like KC did) but if I remember correctly until the ACC took interest he was ours. Others have already said what happened with Von and Rondo.
We basicly lost Ish the day Paul declared for the draft.
Not that we didnt see that coming.
How about that Wake-Charlotte game next year? Weāll have like 20 underclassmen between us.
just because we lose out on acc recruits does not mean we cannot recruit well. we need to stop saying that because we lose recruits to acc schools that bobby has it tough and that we should not be able to compete. we have over the years gotten several top 100 recruits and several other good recruits. its not that we cant find good players(although some have been questionable) its that lutz and his staff cant coach these guys to make them better players. do you think gonzaga gets big time players, was jameer nelson highly recruited, etc. we cant complain about the talent we didnt get if we dont know how to utilize the talent that we have. do you think it is a coincidence that as soon as benny moss took over at uncw that they began to become a lousy three point oriented team. the problem is now is that we do not have enough talent to overcome lutzās coaching. no eddie, no curtis, no plavich. its not like we have scrubs on the floor. deangelo was a top 25 recruit out of high school, lee was one the top 25 pgās in the country, carlos was the top juco guard in the country and we dont know how to coach these guys. what do you think would happen if we had kc rivers and these other guys, would we be better, maybe, but not much because we dont know how to use the talent that we have.
Well letās just quit reliving what might have been. Letās just look forward to what will be. Anderson, Booker and Dewherst will be, well, nevermind.

I think Andersen will develop into a very good two guard. Dewhurst is a freak of an athlete and I can see him being a stud and starting at the sf spot for a few years. Booker⦠well, someone tell him he isnt a shooting guardā¦

And add BIG PHIL, Gerrity, Wildnerness, Gaby and weāre BAAAACK! Seriously, weāll be fine next year as long as we can add another big man and an immediate impact guy at the 2/3. Weāll need to replace DAās 18 per game.
i agree that i think all of those players could be good but unfortunately we could still have lutz which would even everything out.

Leftyās right, well I believe itāll still be another year. For the 15th time Iāve said it WE ARE YOUNG, outside of the EJ, Leemire, and DA, no one has been here more than two full seasons that sees substantile playing time. Yea the JUCO route needs to be cut back on, you donāt build a team out of JUCOās you get them to plug in to fill holes. But I do believe we are bringing in some good young talent and if Lutz and staff doesnāt develop them in the next 2 years then thereās no question on getting rid of him if itās wanted.

Booker.. well, someone tell him he isnt a shooting guard..I hope you are correct but I don't see it. Ian can shoot when he is wide open but can't create his own shot. He seems to struggle on defense. I will admit he is only a freshman. We shall see. I haven't seen Dewhurst play enough to really get a total feel for his game. Right now I don't see him being a massive offensive threat but I would settle for a guy that can rebound and play defense.
We need tall people that can move their feet.:dribble:
Ian wouldnāt have to create his own shot if we had an inside game or a point guard. They are a lot of good stand still shooters around.Like Colin Falls at Notre Dame.
Donāt know if it is true but I heard that KC Rivers was upset that Byron Dinkens didnāt get the basketball operations job. That he wanted.I donāt if that is true or not.
