According to Rivals, we have an offer out on this guy.
6’4, 175 combo guard who averaged 17 ppg, and was named player of the year in his district. His father is an assistant at TCU (Kevin Lewis) and says he feels Charlotte and Tulsa are the favorites.

He said he is interested in Charlotte because he has a relative playing for us. Jerrell Lewis maybe?? Does anyone know?
The lure of Charlotte has much to do with why Lewis is so interested. He likes that Charlotte’s on the rise and the fact that they’re going to the Atlantic 10.
“That’s a conference that they can win every year, and I’d like to be a part of that,” Lewis said. “They’re just a team on the rise.”
Family connection is in play. His uncle and cousins now live in Charlotte. I assume Jerrel is one of his cousins.

Well, before we think the A-10 is just going to hand us the men's hoops trophy and never look back, I've been reading about what's being described as a "monster" 2006 recruiting class for Saint Joseph's. Thus far Martelli has received verbals from:
6-0 PG Jawan Carter, Wilmington (The Tatnall School) DE
Ranked #52 by Rivals (#12 PG)
6-1 PG Darrin Govens, Chester (Chester H.S.) PA
AP First Team AAAA All-State
Led Chester to 2004-05 AAAA state championship
6-2 PG/SG Derrick “D.J.” Rivera, Philadelphia (Ss. Neumann & Goretti H.S.) PA
Led Neumann-Goretti to 2004-05 state Catholic League championship
BTW, over the weekend Govens and Rivera played on the same junior team in the 2005 Philly USA All-City Basketball Classic. MVP Govens dropped 32 points and Rivera added 19 in leading their team over a squad that included a couple of guys named Ellington and Henderson!
Anyway, that would give the Hawks 3/4’s of their 2006 class. Not a JUCO in sight!
"Right now, I would like to make visits to Tulsa, Charlotte, USC, Virginia and Notre Dame," he explained. "I'm keeping my options open, but after I finish playing in July, I will sit down and start concentrating on which schools I'm most interested in and hope to make a decision in late summer."
Something about this kid…I really hope we can pull it off and get a commit from him. He came outta nowhere and it seems we were on him early. Coaches son, hard worker, I like it!
Any news on this guy. I hear Kool being mentioned a lot but this kid sounds great. A post earlier said that he was going to start concentrating on schools after july.
"His strengths not only shine through on the offensive end but more than likely to his father’s teaching and coaching Lewis excels on the defensive end as well. “Defensively he’s able to guard the one through three positions with ease,” one analyst told us. “He’s so athletic and long it creates a lot of problems for the guys he’s guarding. Another thing I like about him is that he rebounds like he’s 6’8 or so. Bottom line…you have to appreciate what he can do on the court.”
