Kickoff Meeting

for those who couldn’t attend.

Great turnout.
good talking points.
got to hear the radio commercial that will soon be out on WBT and WFNZ, WFAE will have something similar.
The AD put in a lot of hard work for tonight.

The only thing new would be that the September 17th date was thrown out there. It seems to me that this date would be the make or break date.

it wasn’t stated that way, but in one speech one guy said something about September 17th that made me think that was judgement day.

If anyone wants to know what their monthly payment would be for any number of tickets, PM me and I can send you a chart showing the monthly payments (as can any other member of the sales force).

The entire future of our athletics program has two months to live or die. More of the great foresight we’ve come to expect from the Administration.

Mickie F***ing Mouse!

You can’t run a D-I program with NAIA level Athletics Dept.

hate to say it - but this does not surprise me.

I’m talking about the 2 month window. not the fact of you commenting.

Go ahead and post it on here. More eyeballs than you think come to this site. Heck this board is the main source for 49er news anyway.

September 17th = 5000 FSL’s??

Fitting date. ALmost one year to the day that the financial markets crashed and our road became a lot tougher.

I hope that’s two months to see a sells upsurge and NOT to get to 5000. Selling 3200 FSL’s in two months is hopelessly unrealistic. Getting to 3000 FSLs would be a more reasonable goal.

I just hate how everything this U does sets a deadline instead of an objective. That’s why this U often fails in its endeavours. It sets failure goals. There’s no reason to have a TERMINATION date. If 5000 FSLs aren’t sold by such-and-such a date that should not result in the ending of the effort but only its extention.

Trying to, but can’t seem to get it to work. Anyway, if you purchase in July, it is $27.78 per FSL. It goes up to $28.57 in August, and $29.41 in September.

On thing I want to add…Johnny Harris, a Chapel Hill grad spoke tonight, but almost brought a tear to my eye and really pumped every one up.

It was something to this effect.
ā€œI went to school at Chapel Hill, but by god Charlotte is MY University now! And no matter where anyone in this room went to school, Charlotte should be YOU University too until we get this done!!ā€

Hope he added a big-fat donation with 7 0’s at the end of that rousing speech.

They did not say that the 17th was a deadline - just that on that date they would have to present to the Board of Trustees their progress. I would assume that at that point it would be up to the trustees to recommend the next steps. I would think that a huge surge up to but not at 5,000 would be ok. I think that if on 9/17 we are sitting at 2500 FSL that will not bode well for the football, nor should it.

As for 5,000 being unatainable I think that is wrong. I think 5,000 is attainable in 2 months. It basically means that we need to sell somewhere between 1000 and 1500 people on buying FSls and putting money down. If we can’t find that many people that support football in 2 months then we don’t deserve a team.

It won’t be a cake walk - but given the size of our alumni base and all the football fans around town we should be able to knock this out of the park given who all the sellers are.

Will it be difficult to get to 5000 FSL’s in 2 months… absolutely. Is it impossible… NO. One question to the negative posters on this board… name one thing this University has undertaken that failed. Every single capital campaign over the past 60 years had doubled its goal.

Good to see many of you out there tonight. It seems to me like we have a good group of folks to get this job done. I’m ready to get started.

From the timeline they handed out:

Sept 15, 2009 – FSL Sales Team Committee efforts concluded

October 15, 2009 – Deadline to reach 5,000 FSL’s sold

Spring 2011 – Fieldhouse construction begins

2011 – Hiring football staff

2012 – First redshirt freshman class enrolls

Summer 2012 – Fieldhouse construction complete

Fall 2013 – Charlotte 49ers Football kicks off

I like that. If he goes public with that statement, it should help us pick up some of that hometown support we so desperately need.
