KJ Sherrill

Another athletic forward that is getting some(alot) attention from Charlotte. Around 6’7 235lb. From West Rowan. Very physical. Very close to coming to a campus near you.

any chance he’s related to scooter?

I believe they are cousins.

A quick google I found this:

Another 2009 standout was 6-6, 230-pound PF K.J. Sherrill (Mt.Ulla, N.C./West Rowan). Sherrill is a very physical player, capable of overpowering foes inside. He is a strong rebounder and has good range on his shot.

The Sunday morning speaker was Will Burkholder, a former player and coach under Jeff Mullins at UNC-Charlotte and now director of the “Cut the Nets” skills development program in Houston. Burkholder demonstrated other techniques and methods to help players improve their basic fundamentals.

Scooter’s cousin…

No surprise that he is considering Charlotte.
Scooter used to play pick up basketball in Halton quite a bit when I was there back in 06.
He seemed to know our players and staff very well and I’m sure he has given KJ the heads up on our program.

I know Scooter played in the McGinnis pro am league as well

KJ is also the QB for the WR football team. For anyone that watched Football Friday night he was #7 (my old jersey). They have a pretty good football team.

Scout.com Player evaluation
One of the top seniors in the state of North Carolina. An explosive player, he gets it above the rim. Can play a little to mid-range. Winner, aggressive forward.
Sherill was the 2nd player Gibbons mentioned in his evaluation of 250 or so at his camp. Sounds like he was very impressed by KJ.

This is how the Salisbury Post described him last year:
West’s K.J. Sherrill is a monster slammer
Sounds like a Charlie Coley type, but for four years. I could get used to that.

Exactly what I was thinking. From everyhting I have heard and read, he seems like a mix btw Anjuan and Coley. And the best part… we would have him for four years to develop that athleticism into offensive production.

I’m really excited about this guy :49ers:

lol. Lots of good that did us.

He’s on official visit right this very moment. We’re at the practice gym.

6-6 230 QB…any chance that he good enough to play QB in college?

Would be great to get an athletic big like Sherrill for 4 years. Haven’t had one since Curt…he turned out to be pretty good. Would be a great fit for our style

only thing that worries me is that he is 6’6". however, if we couple him with braswell and spears he would be a nice addition.
