Lots of damage to buildings, luckily only 1 dead, 3 injured.

Last night was a lot of fun. I live about 7-8 miles up the road from where the Tornado touched down, I get on I-40 where the tornado hit on Sandy Ridge Rd.

I was about 5 miles away at Jenn’s house when it touched down, but she still had power so we got up to the minute updates. I had to wake my family up at home to tell them to go downstairs, we had lost power very early in the storm.

Turns out my neighborhood barely got any wind and nowhere near the amount of rain people got only a few miles away. It’s fortunate the tornado touched down where it did, it could have landed in a highly residential area if it were just 1-2 miles in a different direction.

Some of the lightning last night was awesome last night, however.

Word, it was just non-stop lighting. I was monitoring the weather all last night and from what I know, two tornadoes touched down. The first was near Clemmons, NC, and the second was 5 miles south of Winston-Salem. Scary stuff.

The tornado that hit Advance was about 4 miles from my house. That was an intense night of storms. I drove passed where the damage was in Advance, hard to believe no one was injured there.

Most of all the damage was along Underpass Rd.

I was in Charlotte that night at a friends apartment and my mom called me and told me what had happened. I immediately called my two best friends because it had touched down on their road that night. They were both fine including their families and homes thank God. But tonight we were at my friends house and they have been calling a family and trying to get in touch with them all day and they have heard nothing from them. They were home during the storm and not at the little league fields today. We in clemmons were very lucky that it touched down near the Shrine Club. This is a very foresty and open area where it ripped through many trees and unfortanitely torn down a barn. Please keep us in clemmons in your prayers.
