Lets review Valpo...

Gotta love 2 points and 2 rebounds from Iti. He looks like a lottery pick.

66% from the free throw line…not what we were looking for.

How does Basden play 37 minutes and come away with 1 rebound?

Nice shooting night from Plavich. No TV so no comment on the defense.

Solid stats from Baldwin and Drayton.

When Plav and Withers have the same number of field goal attempts, something is wrong. I know Curt had foul trouble but 9 FG attempts and 22 minutes is a joke. At least he got to the free throw line 10 times.
We have got to make better use of his talent Lutz.

Over all a solid win on the road.

BTW, WFNZ sucks.

Can’t ask for any more from Plavich, lights out shooting when we needed it, 4 assists to go along.

Withers had a decent game, I agree, should never be shooting any less than 15 a game. He’s suppossed to be an All-American if I remember correctly…

Eddie’s 1 rebound is puzzling, but the rest of his stats look good. 7 assists and 4 steals.

Mitch played nice, not spectacular, but we shouldn’t need him to score more than 10 a game to win.

Iti padded his block stats in the first few minutes and decided not to play the rest of the night. Can’t blame him too much, sounded like the refs were pretty ticky-tack with the foul calls. Their big men were in trouble as well so we didn’t need to go back to Iti. From the radio it sounded like he missed the dunk and then made a poor defensive play back to back which made Lutz pull him out of the game.

Drayton finally showed that skill we’ve been hearing about, he just needs to be a scoring spark off of the bench, nothing more.

I like that we didn’t jack up as many 3’s this game. Aside from Plavich the team was 2-4 from 3 point land. I know Eddie and Withers CAN make 3’s, but I don’t think I’m alone when I say I’d rather see them take it inside.

And at least our FT shooting improved, 67% isn’t great but I’ll take it, too bad Eddie couldn’t get to the line so he can get Rutgers out of his head.

Overall, Withers needs to break out big time against UL-L Wednesday. He’s due in a big way, we need to get him down low and have Iti give him entry passes, say what you will about Iti, but the man can throw a heck of an entry pass from the FT line.

I would have taken that all day vs Rutgers :( I'ld probably be willing to take 66% for most games this season. :/

and for those talkin about wither’s fg attempts… if you get fouled during the shot, and you miss, does it count as an attempt?!

not if you miss.

Apparently, Withers was feeling pretty crappy… didn’t even practice with the team when they got there. He’ll have bigger nights, but I’m not going to do any nitpicking. It was a solid road victory.

Eddie is whatever we need on a given night. With 7 assists, sounds like we needed a point-forward.

we won’t shoot 69% from 3 point range very often. My concern is our defense, 42% shooting from Valpo, and our PG play again. 7 assists from our small forward is kind of scary. 4 assists is good from our PG but he needs the 7 not basden.

Yeah, apparently Withers had a stomach virus and stayed in the hotel room the night before instead of going over to the arena. Then the foul trouble. He had a solid first half. Of course, he'll have to put up some big numbers in order for us to beat the really good teams.

Drayton had the hot hand and we rode him down the stretch. We need to do that anytime one of our guys gets going.

Plavich is shooting about 58% from three. Lutz said after the game, it’s obvious…we need to get him more shots.

After reading these posts I had to go back and see if we won. I don’t want to look good right now cause its too hard to hold. Rack up the W’s, and keep on fine tuning.

Overall very good win, Valpo is a tough place to win.

Agree need more assits from PG, but we have a very strong team.

We haven’t had many point guards average more than 4 assists/game. Maybe not since Colson. If Baldwin could average 4/game I would be happy with that. The assist/game leaders are usually around 8 or 9 so 4 is not that bad.

Demon never really averaged more than 4 per game and only had 3.8/game last year even after he declared that he would “lead the country in assists” because Rodney told him to.

BTW, we are leading the country in 3 point shooting % at 53.7%

Well Leemire had 3 as well, so we did get 7 from the PG spot. Lee is getting us a lot of assists in his limited minutes, he's got as many as Mitch so far this year in 33 less minutes. Eddie and Plavich both have more assists than Mitch.

But yeah, this is all nitpicking, we got the W, that’s all that matters. There’s always room for improvement. I think the biggest thing for us this year is going with the hot hand. Plavich, Withers, Basden, Drayton and Mitch can all catch fire scoring, we have to make sure to keep feeding them when they are on. Like someone said, we rode Drayton’s hot streak to the victory late in the second half. Someone is bound to be on for us each night, we have to make that guy the center of our offense.

Good win, not sure if anyone else caught it but Coach said that Iti was hurt, with a ankle and could not move well on it and of course Withers being sick, could of turned out bad for us on the road.

Also, it seems Coach loves Drayton, says that his jump shooting inside the arc is really good. We will need his offense in conference play, teams familiar with us will key on Plav and Withers.

Iti messed up his ankle in their last practice before the game.

Coach also stated that Eddie’s low rebound stat was due to his assignment on D playing a 3 point shooting guard.

Nance needs to play more.

Wasn’t their starting point gaurd out all game?

I do not know if it would have made a difference, but we have got to start shutting down the other teams gaurd play. Moving Basden out, helped this, but hurt us underneath.

A W is a W.

Go Niners
