Lions Screwed

Does anyone who isn’t a Bears partisan thing the Lions got a fair deal on that reversal of a TD catch at the end?

That was a horrible call. They “claim” the rule said it wasn’t a catch, but it looked like a completed catch to me, & if it wasn’t the rule should be changed. I also heard it was the exact same situation as a SB TD 1 year that was ruled a catch.

I agree, rule needs to be amended. Lions got jobbed.

Yeah, it wasn’t a touchdown per NFL rules but its complete BS. He had control of the ball with both feet on the ground. That’s a touchdown in real football.

Ive seen the highlight of this play but have yet to hear an explanation of why it wasn’t a TD. Can someone tell me what rule prevented this from being a TD?

Must have control of the ball in a catch all the way through the motion (paraphrase). In other words don’t ever put the ball on the ground in the endzone. Hand it to a ref.

here you go if you haven’t seen the play: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Video-Controversial-rule-strips-Lions-of-first-?urn=nfl-269035

I like this one better:

As I understand it, the NFL rule is that the ground can not cause a fumble, but can cause an incomplete pass. How are the Lions screwed? Seems like the Bears would have been screwed if the refs ruled otherwise. Shitty rules are still rules.

That’s a touchdown. I don’t care what the rule is, you call that shit in the backyard and you’re likely to get punched.

It is the rule but the rule needs to be tweaked. Just like the tuck rule. Without that bullsh!t ruling we might have never heard of the Pats or Tom Brady.

As far as the catch/non-catch itself, as someone else posted, if that’s not a TD, the Colts got screwed last year. Same type call, different outcome.

Just for a second there, I thought this board had made the news http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/49ers-take-turns-throwing-each-other-under-the-b?urn=nfl-269273

if you run the ball across the endzone, dive in and fumble, it’s still a touchdown. This ball was caught, had possession and hit the ground, then lost it. Should have been a TD.

whatever happened to “the ground cannot cause a fumble” logic?
whatever happened to “the ground cannot cause a fumble” logic?
Evidently doesn’t apply when a pass is caught I’m the endzone.

The worst part about this play was it looked like he was using the ball to try to brace himself to get up and dropped it. Stupid rule but the NFL is full of them so what are you gonna do?

Nooo…I’m the endzone

Anyone with half a brain knows that was a touchdown, which of course explains why the No Fun League has a rule saying its not.
