Madden retiring

fine with me. his style was tired and stale…I won’t miss him.

then again, I think most sports TV people are terrible.

They all talk too damn much.

Just because they say something doesn’t make it valuable.

I will give him credit for one thing…putting his name on the EA Sports NFL game. Several versions of that game were and still are pretty darn sweet.

I’ll miss him. I thought he was awesome. Never understood nor found any credence in complaints about him.

Finally. He and Summerall can go get drunk together again.

Only somebody with Hitler Cat as their avatar could say something so hurtful. :lmao:

some of the gems I remember from John and won’t miss hearing from him
“When your arm gets hit, the ball is not going to go where you want it to.”

“Hey, the offensive linemen are the biggest guys on the field, they're bigger than everybody else, and that's what makes them the biggest guys on the field.”

“To get more yards, it’s best to move the ball from the line of scrimmage down the field.”

“some yards is better than none.”

“Whenever you talk about a Mike Shanahan offense, you’re always going to be talking about his offense.”
Like I said I have issues with most every NFL broadcaster – every second does NOT have to be filled with **** flowing out of their mouths.

The absolute worst are these interviews of coaches going into halftime…

WHAT NORMALLY HAPPENS

network talking head : “Coach, you offense struggled moving the ball in the first half. What are you going to tell your team?”

coach: “Well, we’re are going to have to move the ball better.”

network talking head: “Thanks alot for the insight and good luck in the 2nd half”

WHAT SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN

network talking head : “Coach, you offense struggled moving the ball in the first half. What are you going to tell your team?”

coach: "Well, you are f’in idiot if you think I’m going to tell you how we are going the change our gameplan.’

“They say 90% of the game is half-mental.”

thank goodness. when you know anything about football, it’s hard to enjoy a game listening to captain obvious comment on everything… i respect him as a coach and he’s an awesome dude, but i’m not a fan at all of his commentary.

I agree, you can only stand so much of John Madden. When you take time to listen to him, he really tells you nothing of value, and states the obvious.
