Madness on Oct 20th; Fan Day on Sat the 22nd

The Charlotte 49ers will kick off the 2011-12 basketball season by hosting Basketball Madness and 49ers Fan Day, both presented by Barnes and Noble at UNC Charlotte. Madness will be hosted Thursday, Oct. 20 from 9:00 - 10:30 p.m. and will feature the unveiling of a new look Norm the Niner, an official fan t-shirt for the 2011-12 season - which will be voted on by fans and available around the home opener - and some traditional elements including the opportunity to meet the teams and the Slam Dunk Contest presented by American Campus Communities.

The more family-friendly Fan Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 3:00 p.m. Fan Day will include team scrimmages, autograph signings, locker room tours, a youth clinic and other activities for the kids. Registration for the youth clinic is available by

I hope the new Norm looks like more of a badass.

Would prefer a classic-style Norm… no fuzzy costume needed. Just find some bearded hillbilly with school spirit and give him a pickaxe and fake shotgun and let him run loose.

I’d rather see a Norm that looks ready to drive a pick axe in someones skull. If children aren’t scared, I’m not going to be happy.

If SCK is there, that won’t be a problem.

I don’t care what Norm looks like as long as we win.

I logged into ticketreturn.com and it looks like they’ve confirmed seating assignments if you’re curious (and haven’t received tickets yet).

Do row numbers start at “A” in the upper deck? I thought I remembered them not starting at “A”. Anyone?

Depends on where you are, if you’re above a tunnel it starts at row F.

Yes.

After seeing the madness preview of Norm holding shaving cream, I wonder if this is what the new Norm will look like?

A beard-less Norm?!?! I’m not sure what to think.

This is too far. #OccupyHalton

A beard-less Norm?!?! I’m not sure what to think.[/quote]

Not sure how I would feel either! But I have to say I would like the differentiation between Norm and Yosef up at Appy!

SHAVE NORM WIN GAMES!

He does appear to have some facial hair. Maybe this new Norm works from home so he only shaves when he has client meetings?

I am not one to embrace change, but if Norm looks like the guy on the poster I think I can adjust. He looks like he could kick your butt, eat your lunch, and sleep with your wife any times he wants.

I like this Norm already.

Norm didn’t lose his facial hair. Look at the video. Also, perhaps a bit of a hint:

Lew**: Norm without a beard is not Norm. This is terrible.
