Make Room for UNC Charlotte

As most students are looking at colleges to attend, they tend to focus on the Academic Rankings and National prominence of the university in their decisions. One thing that I found interesting is the fact that Charlotte doesn’t necessarily follow the others in raising their “Academic Ranking.”

This article is of course four years old, but still the university has chosen not to put too much emphasis on the rankings.

Well anyways, I was researching one day the different fields of study at Charlotte, and I found out that in fact we are in some rankings. And even more surprising, we did better than Chapel Hill and NCSU. In terms of the Faculty Scholarly Productivity Rankings, Charlotte ranks among the top 20 small research universities. It also shows that Charlotte ranked 4th in the country in Infrastructure and Environmental Systems, 9th in Special Education, and 10th in Information Technology. Not to mention the past article stating that Charlotte is one of the up-and-coming research universities, along with schools like Brigham Young. Also in terms of architecture, I have heard that Charlotte ranks higher than NCSU.

So, knowing that these rankings don’t really matter, I thought it deserved some notice. That just comes to show that with one of the lowest endowments per students among state universities Charlotte can still push aside the two public schools of the Triangle on the national stage.

Also thanks to whoever posted this on wikipedia.

The hyphens have been taken out and changed. Sorry about that…it has been second nature since I am from the land of Chapel Hill and NCSU.
