Breaking: @Charlotte49ers release basketball coach Mark Price from contract. Houston Fancher taking over as interim coach. Details coming.
Another hire by Judy that did not pan out. I was excited when Mark was hired but he could not recruit the type of athlete needed to compete. From what I have read here he wasn’t much of a coach either.
I wonder given the current regime if guys like Cedric Ball or Frank Persley would even be given consideration? They were prop 48’s as I remember. I wonder if our coaches are allowed to recruit HS athletes like them or do they not meet the minimums academically?
Not holding my breath for this getting turned around anytime soon.
Wow. I’m guessing they thought this would appease the fan base. All the did was stoke a fire which, lets be honest, was starting to dwindle. AD needs to address this now or go. No way you keep Lambert and fire Price.
I’m not surprised at all. I think that Price was at least as much of the instigator as Judy…(my son just told me that Hudson Price is gone too, which makes me think that it was more “he was fired” rather than him just saying “hey,i’m not doing the job and i’m not a good fit here”…
I feel bad and have zero hostility towards Price…I think he’s a good guy,but not a very good recruiter or gameday coach and he just was watching the team deteriorate with no good answers.
Regardless of what happens with Judy we’re a long way from respectability and it’s a long road and a couple of real aggressive and talented head coaches from being back on any map.
That said,as many others have…Keeping Lambert and firing Price…??? Unless we get a REAL A.D. we’re S.O.L.
“I”m still stunned to be honest,” Price told the Observer. “I was called in this morning and was told they were going to make a change. “They said they didn’t like the direction of the program was taking and that I might have lost some of my players, which I don’t agree with.”
This seems reactionary to me, like Rose and Dubois completely misjudged the reaction they were going to get on the Lambert decision but felt like that was now a done deal, so they swung this pendulum to the opposite side and have misjudged the appropriate action here too.
This has to send a confusing message to any coaches that we might want to hire–do we pull the trigger on getting rid of you too slow, or too fast? I know I am confused.

Does this mean you have now jumped on the FireJudyAndPhil bandwagon?
