On twitter I see other d1 schools doing amazing and creative marketing techniques that are relatively cheap, just require effort and thought. I am going to begin linking them here.
Saw this today. Gamecock (troll me thats fine) athletes delivering in person season tix to people’s doorstep. You would think a huge program would be passive and arrogant and be happy where they are. But no, Just requires desire.
Ray Tanner, USC AD (and longtime ncsu baseball coach who’s been to Hayes many nights) is on twitter daily. This year they had Gamecock Renewal day where you paid club dues and met entire coaching staffs. It was a twitter firestorm using hashtag #GCCRenewal14. Again very little money to pull off. Just thought.

I really like this idea. Puts us front and center with not only perspective fans, but HS kids who may be looking around for schools. Generates natural interest in the program, and the players get to have fun. A very good idea.
Well, even if we don’t have the football team show up at carowinds…I always wondered why we couldn’t have 49er basketballs for winners of the basketball shot game(s) thoughout the park. They have the usual NC, SC, Duke, St. and then sometimes Celtics or something like that to have another color option. This would at least get kids seeing the logo, school, etc. And now that we have football, we should have our football in there for the football toss prize as well.
I would enjoy seeing kids carrying around their Charlotte 49er basketballs and footballs around the park. I am sure this could be done, but would require someone to initiate it.
Carowinds chooses what balls to put out, chances are it’s not very easy to source Charlotte 49ers basketball at a price low enough to be used as awards. Demand just isn’t there.
Maybe if the school had the funds they could purchase the balls and then pay to be the exclusive prize for the games, but would people bother playing just to win Charlotte 49ers gear?

Agreed. Carowinds purchases the balls that they think people will pay for the chance to win. We could get our gear our there, but we would have to buy it and then hand it to Carowinds for free. Not sure we want to do that. As we continue to grow the gear will make it out there.

We did have a 49er Day at Carowinds but I like the idea of having the entire football team in their jerseys walking around the park. Combine the 2 and it is a win-win.
