Rankin would be a huge pick up for us. Great floor leader, more of a pass first type of player. Needs to work on his jumpshot though. Hes going to be a great ball player I think.
I don’t see it. We have 2 PGs on scholly the next 3 yrs. I think we chase a 2s and 3s for this April.
2011 will be a big man 4/5 year for us

I’m 100% positive Bobby & Co. would love to have a top 5 PG. Rankin will probably get serious consideration for the Mc D AA game.
anybody know what kind of shape we’re in with this guy?

I am 100% Lutz would like a top 5 PG also…However gotta learn where to spin your wheels and where not to though.
Its hard to swoop into existing relationships. Luckily with a kid like Braswell, we had a relationship with him before he was top 100.
Like I said, we are not in need of that position, class of 2011 we need BIGS.
If he’s a top 5 pg…i would say not to well.
Two of our assistants were at the game last night, but they might have been there to see Sullivan.
I believe the Tar Heels are his leader for the moment (and with their young pgs, they don’t “need” him, either). He has offers from South Carolina, Georgia, Wake, Virginia Tech, and a bunch of others.
Rankin has been spotted at Halton quite a few times. He watched us beat Temple.
If Charlotte has any chance at landing a Lance Stephenson or Kenny Boynton type of player (both were ranked at about the same level last year), I would hope we would pursue it

? ? ? ? ?
It seems like Rankin has been spotted at our games for several years now.
‘several years’? well that seals it! not a chance!
okay. maybe just a couple years. He visited during the Terrapins game and he’ll often stop by with Sullivan to Midnight Madness
There has been no mention of Charlotte in any recent articles pertaining to Rankin. Pretty much not going to happen. Would love to have him, but sometimes you just have to move on.
Then who was the idiot that started this thread…
“Charlotte and Clemson were out evaluating Braxton Ogbueze, Bernard Sullivan and Marquis Rankin Tuesday night”

Just reading this Big O piece about Rankin’s backcourt partner, 6-0 PG Braxton Ogbueze (oh-boy-z), class of 2012.
CharlotteObserver.com: Sensational sophomore
Scout gives him 3-stars, while ESPN.com rates him a 92. Already has offers from UVa and Va Tech per Scout, while Big O piece also lists Wake and USC as well. [BTW, since no mention of any Charlotte offer, not starting a seperate thread on him.]
First article to mention us in a while with Rankin: http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1057769
"We are hearing from Wake Forest, North Carolina, Virginia Tech,Clemson, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Florida International, andCharlotte," said Rankin of the schools showing interest.
Also note that we have offered. UNC-CH is the only school that has not.
commits to virginia tech.
