Per ESPN

Guilmette is mobile post player that can rebound in his area extremely well on both ends. He can score some with his back to the basket and has a great basketball IQ. As he adds strength and becomes more aggressive his production will increase.

UGA dropped by to watch Guilmette recently.

RT @OntheRadarHoops: Georgia State was at Harrison HS (GA) this morning checking in on 2012 C Marshall Guilmette

RT @DMcDonaldHoops: Murray State and Buffalo have offered 2012 PF/C Marshall Guilmette from Harrison HS (GA).

Georgia State offered, then, so did we:

RT @DMcDonaldHoops: #Charlotte also just offered 2012 C Marshall Guilmette.

This kid has a ton of interest and around 10 offers. I wonder when he plans on shortening his list and where we stand, cause if he adds some bulk he seems like he could be a good fit.

I would anticipate his offers to keep increasing, with more high major schools coming into the picture. He’s a target that we are definitely zoned in on right now.

RT @DMcDonaldHoops: 2012 C Marshall Guilmette from Harrison HS (GA) will be visiting Richmond for a camp this weekend.

Slender but in his video he runs well for a big.

It was thought that 2012 recruit Marshall Guilmette may just end up in the Atlantic 10 for the Richmond Spiders. That all changed on Tuesday night when Guilmette committed to East Carolina, this according to ESPN.com’s National Basketball Recruiting Coordinator Paul Biancardi.

He was on campus at ECU for their football game against Virginia Tech, and decided to make his decision then. He had planned several official visits, which he did not want to go public with, but those will obviously no longer be necessary anyways.

The 6-foot-10 big man can move well inside and has a nice mid-range game. He’ll fit in well with the Pirates out of Conference USA.

Great Pickup!!!

oh, wait. another zero star for ecu.

10.5 ppg on a AAAAA doesn’t impress me. I only bring that up because someone (forget who) was dogging EVN’s ppg total on AAAAA Norcross who was playing like a top 25 team at the end of the year and beat #3 Milton (that’s national rank) to win the AAAAA state title.

Anyway I’m sure Marshall is a wonderful kid and hope he enjoys his time in Greenville.

I feel bad for the guy, he’s going to be stuck in that bad basketball town for at least a year of his life. On the plus side, if he gets hurt, the magical touch of LEBO will cure his injuries.

At least he can rest assured that LEBO will never leave Greenville. That had to be the sticking point here.

this gives me confidence that we can land one of the big men that we are targeting if they are able to land this kid. good pickup for them. ill leave it at that.

marshall should be reassured that people on pirateillustrated are quite excited about his committment. so excited in fact that they are frozen at their keyboards, unable to type news about his committment. im sure a thread on their website is coming any minute now…

Good for him, hope he does well except for when/if we pay against him.

Center is usually the slowest developing position on the court and a position that is dependent on others getting them the ball. If he were a perimeter player averaging 10 ppg that on the high school level his senior year I would have concern. He also has yet to even play his senior year. You should check his stats next march to be fair.

He’s not going to be expecting to make an immediate impact anyway like you were saying with EVN. Most any center either of us get at this level is going to need a couple years to develop. It’s just the way it usually works.

We haven’t been tracking the guy for half a year like you guys but there are several pages of discussion on the private board on that site even before he visited this weekend that he and Gill would be in town and the commit just came out last night.
