Marshall Post Game

Some days you hit the pinata, other days you are the pinata. Today we were the pinata and they hit us until candy fell out of our ass.

Not what I expected. Ugly to watch.

We missed a ton of shots point blank. Not just Joe, but mostly.

Cammidge was a disaster on the floor tonight.

Davis looked tired every time I saw him. Maybe the whole team was tired?

Everyone had a bad shooting night. Hope the teams legs aren’t gone. We were still getting open looks, just couldn’t hit shots.

Lots to speculate about. We’ll see how they respond Saturday.

Live and Die by the three. Plenty of open looks (some from point blank) just didn’t make them. Tough one.

Really curious as to why Joe played so few minutes…yes he had a poor shooting night in first half but was our only rebounder. He then went out early in second half and never returned. Aube played majority of second half. Did Price mention it in post game?

Fancher said we took 78 shots in this game. We just did not execute.

We got almost no second chances with Joe out though.Puts too much pressure on the shooter when you know its one and done.

I know our defense is awful, but I would be surprised if Kelly doesn’t get a shot at the NBA when it’s all said and done.

Congratulations to Reid Aube on a career high performance.

The fun of having a young team, honestly not surprised we cooled off after two great shooting nights.

Oh well, onto the next one.

Yeah. I thought the looks were decent. Not to many out of control type shots.

Smart to rest Joe in the 2nd half, I imagine if we got back into things after 10 mins remaining he checks back in.

Off night, they happen. On to the next one.

Glad to see the observer kiss of death is still in full force. Every time we get a “the 9ers have turned the corner” article, we lose the next game it seems without fail. Thanks Fowler.

Im fine with taking the popovich approach to resting our best player in a game like this. The odds of us getting a top seed were always low…lets just make sure we are in the best position to compete in the conference tournament and try to make some noise. Still a decent amount of basketball left if we can peak at the right time.

Start three freshmen, gonna have to live with three freshmen. Off-night and I had the feeling throughout the first half that Marshall came out to prove something…after all, their first loss in conference was to us and we laid 100+ on them. Marshall wanted to make a statement…and did.

Joe seemed off, maybe tired, missed some close shots; everyone else seemed to start pressing on offense and looked out of sorts on defense until we used the zone to change the look (seemed to work a bit too).

Oh well, onto a winnable game at WKU.

Do we know for sure he was just resting Joe? I didn’t see the game.

Haven’t seen a comment about it, but my sense (especially in the second half) is that it was a move designed to rest him rather than his knees (although the two aren’t mutually exclusive). He missed a couple of early shots, close and makeable, and never seemed to find his groove…but that describes the entire game.

Marshall came out with something to prove, and prove it they did, we just gotta move on and get ready for WKU. Can’t let this sort of loss linger and I don’t think it will. These games happen, they suck, but just need to focus on the next one.

In the first half he came out of the game win 13:54 remaining and came back in with 8:55 remaining. Uchebo came out of the game when we trailed 42-57 with 14:05 remaining in the second half and would have probably come out at that point if we had a five point lead. With nine minutes remaining, when Joe was probably scheduled to come back in, we were trailing by 22. I doubt the intention was for Joe to sit the rest of the game when he came out but the circumstances got worse, swinging the risk/reward ratio too far to put him back in.

My thoughts exactly!
