We played closed scrimmages the past 2 Saturdays’ vs Coastal Carolina and at Wofford. I wonder how we did.

clt spoke with an nba scout today. Davis was not on his radar, but he planned to check him out.

Davis will need to go overseas to play. He is a very nice player, but he is not NBA level at this point.

Davis is definitely a NBA caliber talent with 2 full years left to develop. From all accounts, he did quite well against the so called elite at both camps this summer.

Davidson 106
Hampden-Sydney (D-III) 55

Cats were led by freshman Kellen Grady with 28 points and senior Peyton Aldridge chipped in 24.

I think Davis has NBA potential. Seems like we have to have some level of post season success - conference tourny, ncaa, nit - something for him to really show he has “it”.

Yeah like Fultz.

Difference in a P5 conference and ours.

Not saying it can’t be done, just seems like in a shitastic conference to make the NBA you have to do something more than just put up good numbers.

I think a nice tourney run with David dominating could actually get the guy drafted 2nd round. If he has a great year but we are mediocre then he’s probably looking at a free agent training camp deal.

Of course sometimes that is a much better path than getting drafted in the 2nd because you have the opportunity to interview and work out with the teams that need you and have an interest in signing you.

Case in point. Ron Baker from Wichita State, Isaiah Taylor hawks and David Mwanba (sp?) with the Bulls. All undrafted. There are always guys in the NBA that make rosters and weren’t drafted.

Also don’t discount Price putting in a good word for the kid.

Barring a complete meltdown this year or an injury he is going to get an opportunity to make a team. And with the right opportunity and a little luck he could make it.

I think he has the most pro potential we have had in a player in a long time. I can’t remember the last guy that had this much. Henry was good guys but Davis is better and plays more under control and has a better outside shot.

Wouldn’t shock me if he goes after this year though.

Man, I was pissed about having Div III Methodist on our schedule as a regular game. If I was a Southern Miss fan I would demand a refund on my season tickets.

EDIT: I just looked on Methodist’s website and they do not list Friday’s game against us. Maybe they are embarrassed too.

clt says Marshall should at least play cox mill. #mickeymouse

Never heard of USCCA but after looking it up…it’s the one that Johnson and Wales basketball team plays in.

Agreed.

He won’t sniff a draft spot after his senior season unless he absolutely runs away with CUSA POY. To be an NBA draft pick from CUSA…(unless you have crazy size or athleticism) you have to absolutely dominate the league. Which…NBA calibre players should dominate in CUSA.

NWA and TRL have a combined 0 years of NBA scouting experience. They know what’s up.
