Med School

If Dubois allows for UNC-Chapel Hill to put a med school on his campus, he should resign immediately.

According to the report, the Charlotte school would initially be under UNC Chapel Hill’s accreditation but would eventually operate under accreditation through UNCC.

you believe that? how did football work out for 40 plus years?
you believe that?
That’s what I think the logic behind it is. Doesn’t mean I think accreditation would ever actually be transferred to us.

a slap in the face to everyone who holds a degree from this university.

Wow. I don’t know if he felt his hands were tied or what. But for our leader to lay it out like that is, in my opinion, embarrassing. I have more belief and vision than that for us I guess.

Wow, we MIGHT become more involved with the 1st 2 of 4 years of what should be our own school. Be still my beating heart. :’(
UAB wants to fire their traitor of a Chancellor, when do we can ours?

If DuBois doesn’t want us to think he’s a traitor, then get a definite in writing agreement stating how soon we take over. Say 5-10 years with penalties vs. UNC-CH for not handing over in time.

Boy I wish I hadn’t read that. Time to fill his inbox.

My sentiments exactly. Do anyone have a list of the BOT’s emails? I didn’t see one on the main site.

““Today Charlotte has a medical school,” noted a joint statement from UNC Chapel Hill Chancellor Carol Folt, UNCC Chancellor Phil Dubois…”

Four. I read four sentences before hitting this load of crap and becoming pissed. I think he should have worn a helmet during the spring game- did he hit his head during that tumble he took?

I shake my head when I ponder this scenario. Here we have a former Charlotte mayor and advocate of our University in the Governor’s mansion, a graduate of our University sitting in the Lt. Governor’s office, the former President of the UNC system from Charlotte that served during the time leading up to this point, and, most importantly, an advocacy group of over 60 influential Charlotte leaders that wants our University to serve the need of a medical school, and OUR VERY OWN CHANCELLOR SAYS “NO THANKS, WE’LL PASS!”

I know that this is an unpopular opinion, but with the financial constraints the state is facing and the political realities in Raleigh right now, this is absolutely the right call. You cant really argue that "the most feasible and cost effective way to ensure a quality health care workforce and economic development for the region,” would be to create a whole new college of medicine.
