FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Michael Beasley was the exceptional player of the day at the Real Deal On The Hill. Beasley’s D.C. Assault squad could be on the verge of a title.
Michael Beasley, PF, D.C. Assault – This is the best player at the event that we’ve seen thus far. Twice in one day we heard the Derrick Coleman reference. In the game we caught he had 25 and 10 and left little doubt in our minds that the second best prospect in this class is. When he’s playing like he was on Saturday there is a considerable “wow” factor to his game.
Cameron Tatum is no longer a member of the Charlotte 49ers recruiting class. Delonte Hill’s appointment to K-State sealed the deal for Tatum. The talented wing is trying to get a qualifying score and if he does look out for Tennessee. Bruce Pearl was in the gym watching Tatum. “It would probably be Tennessee unless somebody else comes
Illinois Warriors win Real Deal 73-70 over D.C. Assault
With a roster filled with high-major prospects, everyone in Fayetteville thought D.C. Assault should have no problems winning the Real Deal. Someone forgot to tell the Illinois Warriors that.
After a big win over the Worldwide Renegades in the semi-finals, D.C. Assault looked like they were on pace to another big win. Up 15 points in the first half, things were clicking for the team. Austin Freeman continued to knock down every shot he put up, Michael Beasley was going to work inside and Nolan Smith was connecting on his perimeter shots.
Then came a three minute stretch were Beasley sat out with a turned ankle and the Warriors were able to take advantage of the absence. That small stretch was the difference maker.
Make no mistake about it though, the Assault just assaulted the field. Freeman, who is headed to Georgetown after his 2007 senior year, looked as good as he ever has but had a quiet 14 points in the defeat. Smith had his best offensive output in the game with a team high 18 points.
Smith, a Duke commitment, was knocking down threes, scored at the rim (with the exception of a key miss under a minute to play) and sunk a 12 foot jumper. He played under control and was the team’s best defensive player all weekend.

We noticed something new about Michael Beasley’s game this weekend. The nation’s 2nd ranked junior is more vocal than ever and is taking a leadership role – with his actions and his words – on - the Assault team.
beasley25. Seriously man, your obsession over this kid is getting to be a little…no A LOT ridiculous. Mama Beasley knows the kid is not coming here, the kid knows he’s not coming here. Do you have his autograph yet? You could put it next to Iti’s.
Franchise, if you don’t believe that Beasley is coming here and you’re tired of people talking about him, simply do not open the thread with Mike Beasley’s name in it. If mom was so sure he wasn’t coming here, why does she stop by to talk to us every week?
allie. Hope I’m wrong, but maybe she knows you guys eat it up so much. You have read his comments just like I have. What part of his comments make you believe that he will choose to come to Charlotte? That’s my point. There is nothing in there that even hints to him coming here. Mrs. Beasley probably does not want her son to look too bad, so she does some damage control. Just my two cents.
as of right now i seem very skeptical i see posted anywhere. he seems to be a confused individual who isn’t sure what he wants to do right now. He is being torn between his heart (us) and his family (hill). so it will be rough on him no matter where he ends up.
Beasley didn’t have his best game against the D1 Greyhounds (Mayo/Walker).
Mayo started the game with 2 for 11 shooting, later beginning to heat up. Walker didn’t have his best game either. Beasley had 7 total points, 2 of 13 from the field. He rushed his shots in the zone they were playing, Walker doing a good job defending him. Beasley had 9 boards, 3 dimes, 2 blocks, a steal and no turnovers. Not too bad production wise. Afte the game scouts said it was easy to see Mayo was the best prospect and most complete player in the class, he is ready for the league. Walker needs to improve his outside shot and work on dribbling skills, has a lot of potential. Beasley drifted on his jumpers, but still got his boards on the off night. Austin Freeman from DC Assault stepped up in place of the injured Nolan Smith after arriving after the game started because of a delayed flight. Finished with 30 pts on 12 of 16 shooting. Assault got the 73-65 win in OT.
