Micheal Neal - 2005

two words amnesiac:

Alonzo Gee.

(que price is right music)

Looks like our designated shooter(DS) position is still open. It is a good opportunity for someone, not many teams offer the freedom we do in that positiion, I guess that is why it is easy for us to usually get one.

I don’t see anything about Neal over there.

Somehow I don’t think Gee was waiting for Micheal Neal to commit elsewhere so he could choose Charlotte. Just a hunch. He’s probably more concerned of the chances of Withers coming back or not, if he leaves Drayton will be 4 and Alexander and Gee can both start at 2/3, if not Gee will probably be looking at least starting out on the bench.

Yes, i’m sure Neal not coming won’t HURT Gee’s recruiting, but a guy as talented as Gee probably isn’t too concered about loosing PT to a shooter. It would have been very nice if we could of had Gee starting at 2 with Neal off the bench, oh well, I’m sure Bobby and co. have backup plans(maybe Lewis is that backup plan…)

Sooners land junior college guard According to reports, Oklahoma landed a commitment from Michael Neal, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Lon Morris Junior College. Neal earned second-team junior college All-America honors last year.

It’s there. On the bottom of an article entitled “Sooner basketball recruiting notebook.”

Is Justin Young (author of Iti story) reporting it?

Butter49er. I do not think Gee was waiting on Neal but I hope it is a positive sign that Neal sees the handwriting on the wall about Gee and wants to assure his minutes somewhere else. I see Gee as a 2G with Drayton and Alexander at the 3.

If we land Gee and Clark while heading into the A-10 no one can ever say that Lutz is an average recruiter.

That’s the positive view of this thing, but there’s also a very good chance Neal doesn’t know much about the Gee situation(other than we are recruiting him and he’s interested). I am pretty certain than when recruiting Neal we don’t tell him that Gee is on the verge of committing to us…it’s much more likely that Neal sees we have interest in Gee so signed elsewhere, without any knowledge of how close Gee actually is to commiting to us…

TheInsiders is reporting it. Includes a photo. I’ve got to believe he wanted to stay out west. He’s from Dallas, went to Lon Morris in TX and ends up in OK. Either he must not be the shooter we thought he was OR he made a big mistake. They’re loaded with guards at OU and he only has two years. Plus Sampson plays 10 guys.

A Charlotte player has led C-USA in 3’s made the last 6 years. If I can bomb, I come to Charlotte.

If he is from Dallas, looks like it could of been a decision to stay close to home, talk to anyone from Univ. Oklahoma and most talk of Dallas as the city they want to live or go too. I think this applies to Nebraska and Arkansas somewhat also, with regards to Dallas.

Sounds like a good guy, late bloomer in hoops, who has recovered from brain surgery in recent years, hope he does well.
