Micheal Neal - 2005

6’4" shooting guard. He is from Lon Morris CC, the same one that Pigford is from. Apparently the guy is an incredible shooter, and averaged 33 points per game last year. I sure hope we get him, I dont know what other schools are after him.

Is this Plavich’s replacement we’ve been hearing about? Sounds promising…

Yep, that's the guy! :bball:

I wondered when his name was finally gonna surface,

The guy can apparently flat fill it up. He put up incredible numbers in the JUCO tournament against the best competition.

I’m gonna assume this guy is not just a three point shooter, but instead a deadly scorer from all over the court that can drive and also hit mid range pull up jumpers. My thinking is that it is hard as hell to average 33 ppg off just three pointers and free throws. But if he is hitting 8 or 9 threes per game, and his percentage is at least in the 38 to 40 range or better, then he has got to be one of the best three point shooters in the country. Either way, I HOPE WE GET HIM!

It sounded like he is all but locked up. The guy fits our system perfectly. He’s a 3 point shooter from what I gathered. I asked if Alexander is the answer a the 2 and that’s when I heard about the sharp-shooter from Pigford’s school. ALexander doesn’t shoot well enough…or enough to play the 2 in our system. Neal is the guy. Moxley lands some serious talent at the JUCO level.

Here’s my best guess on 2005:

Baldwin/Goldwire/Lewis
Neal/Alexander
Drayton/Alexander/Gee
Withers/Mullis
Iti/Nance

Again I wil ask, where does that put Lewis? I am still puzzled at why we recruited him with other needs more pressing.

excellent question. i cant see him getting more than 5 minutes per game as a freshman. and as a sophmore he will most likely be battling for PT against Neal, Alexander, and Gee

Per this link, it only shows him averaging 20.3 pts(still good though)…

Michael Neal

That’s what he averaged in the NJCAA tournament pcon. So he blew up when it counted.

By the way, love the avatar… Curtis back in his Charlotte Aces days. Nice.

According to the new story on NinerReport, Neal’s coach says he likes us. It lists other schools and has an interesting comparison to Plavich.

From NinerReport.com (Interview with Neal):

Neal says he has offers from Oklahoma, Charlotte, Utah and Washington. My take: He’s definitely a shooter and likes up tempo. Washington is the only other up tempo team involved and he says they haven’t invited him out for a visit, while the others have. I think we’ll get him but he’s from Dallas, TX so maybe he wants to stay out that way.

If I were Neal I would wait to see what Gee did before I made my commitment. Gee, Alexander, and possibly Bennett is a lot of talent and competition for a player who only has 2 years of eligibility on the D-1 level.

TSD, Alexander and Gee will play mostly at the 3. Bennett at the point. Neal is our guy at shooting guard. He is the man for the job.

What is the latest on Neal? It has been pretty much quiet around here about him for quite some time…

Oklahoma giveth, Oklahoma taketh away… Neal Has committed to play for the Sooners, scratch him off our wishlist.

aaagghh!!! damn you oklahoma! thats OK, we will probably have a better chance at landing Gee, since Neal was a 2 guard as well.

btw, Lefty, didnt you say this guy was pretty much a lock to be a Niner?

Got a source Jimmy? I see Griffin committed but nothing about Neal.

Yes, looks true, it is up on Oklahomas rival site.

Looks like our designated shooter(DS) position is still open. It is a good opportunity for someone, not many teams offer the freedom we do in that positiion, I guess that is why it is easy for us to usually get one.
