ESPN player evaluation

April, 2010: Emerging big man has good athleticism and runs the floor well for his size. He showed some prowess on the offensive and defensive glass but is very limited with his offensive production. He has average hands but plays with passion and has a good motor which allows him to be a competent rebounder despite his lack of offensive seasoning. Hall will make major strides in his development with some gym work and footwork skill execution drills.

I hope what we’ve done with Harris and Barnett has us in good standing with Victory Christian’s head coach.

We are in his top 3, per ESPN:

Montarius Hall (Charlotte, N.C./ Victory Christian)2012, PF, 6-8, 220 pounds The strong, powerful forward plays with a nastiness when it comes to finishing inside, defending and rebounding. Hall rebounds with two hands, finishes drop-off passes with power, works the offensive glass for second-chance points, sets good ball screens and catches everything that comes his way. He can also knock down a 12-foot jumper and shoot the jump hook over his left shoulder. Right now his top three are Charlotte, VCU and LSU.

I don’t know if he is rated high enough for Max.

His show was excellent by the way.

Those two write-ups you posted 2k are night and day. One year later and he sounds like a completely different player.

Edit: Actually, now that I saw the Espn page linked in the first post, the April 2010 writeup is what they used for his “weaknesses” paragraph. That seems odd. Are they cutting corners in evaluations, or was the earlier writeup just his weaknesses?

In addition, his height ranges from 6’5" to 6’8" (in your first post).

I think the height is due to him more than likely growing. I’ve heard some really good things lately about Hall and his approach to the game. I would love to see us get Hall or Clayton as a PF for 2012.

Montarius Hall also said he's strongly considering attending Oak Hill Academy in Virginia next year.
Montarius Hall of Team Charlotte, listed a top 5 of UNC, LSU, Clemson, App State and VCU. All have offered except UNC

RT @scoutsfocus: 2012 6’7 PF Montarius Hall listed a top 5 of LSU, Clemson, VCU, UNCC, and Virginia Tech.

update: Charlotte is the only offer out of his top five, which contradicts some previous tweets.

now at 88 rating and 2 stars at ESPN. Was an 80 rating, 2 stars.

Also now a 3 star at Scout.

Also playing now on ESPN. Good size and looking prerty good.

I completely forgot we recruited this kid. He filled in nicely after Clark went down with the injury.

FYI, now playing at Southern Idaho College: http://athletics.csi.edu/roster.aspx?rp_id=599

Plays very little. Would it make sense to burn a schollie to have him for three years? Couldn’t be any worse than getting less than 10 min a game in JUCO.

Understood 2K. Was just surprised from your update that he plays so little in Juco.
