May, 2010: Montay continues to grow in height and game each time out. He’s now at 6’6 and is clearly a high major prospect at the point guard spot. He has improved his weaknesses by quickening his shot, plays lower, and has added some meat to his lengthy frame. Montay lets the game come to him, never forcing the issue. He has a deadly floater he goes to in the paint and understands mismatches by taking smaller guards to the post and shooting his go-to right hook. Brandon runs the show for his team and has grown into a solid floor general. He has improved his foot speed and must continue to bring out that killer instinct at all times. A high major prospect at the point guard spot.October, 2009: For his age, Brandon is a point guard with nice size and athleticism that makes plays off the dribble in transition like an older player than his years. Although he is not a jet with the ball, he does a nice job changing speeds and accelerates by his defender into the paint. He is still developing his consistency from behind the 3 point line as shot selection sometimes was problematic. His size and length give him a big advantage defensively as he is able to contain the ball handler and still contest the jumper. He still has a lot of upside and room to improve, but if he grows another 2 or 3 inches he could be a big dynamic point guard that is unique in his class.
June, 2009: Montay was impressive once again at the Big Shots VCU. He needs to improve his footspeed but has high-major potential with his size and length at the point guard spot. Montay is excellent at reading when he has a mismatch with his size by posting up and shooting a feathery jump hook over smaller defenders. He has a quick handle and handles ball pressure well.
March, 2009: Montay has tremendous potential. He’s a long & lengthy athlete, excellent ball handler and passer, able to post smaller guards and finish around the basket well, solid floater and great outside shooter. If he continues to work on his foot speed, defense, and gets more consistent with the mid-range jumper shot, he will become an immediate impact player at the next level.
