Most Hated Team in the A-10

If we go into the A-10 next year and win the regular season and conference tournament (decent possibility, right?), and do not show the proper respect to our new conference members do we become the Bearcats of the A-10? Does that appeal to you? I wouldn’t have thought so, but I must admit that I kind of like the idea.

Only if we have Iti kidnap & torture his roommate, Lutz caught on camera puking drunk by a cop, various other felonies & misdemeanors.

What is proper respect? Shake hands before the game then kick their ass? I got no problem with that.

Instead of quarters, will the students throw communion wafers?

I get uncomfortable as it is when people start trashing the A-10 and its schools in this forum and A-10 visitors come in to say hello, only to get a bunch of smack.

Who the hell are we to be telling them to jettison LaSalle, Fordham, and St. Boniventure when these schools had to have a say in inviting us in the first place (Thanks for letting me move into your house. Your decor sucks. Oh, and by the way, get the hell out!)

We should be thankful and respectful of the A-10 and let the team do the talking next season before we start acting like a bunch of bad-ass punks takin’ ovah da hood.

clt feels that we are the best thing the a-10 will ever see. until we get football and go to the sec.

I don’t think the A10 is going to be as easy as some on this board believe. You’ve got to remember that the A10 is very young this year and will improve a lot by the time we face them.

Brings up an interesting question. I wonder who will be our new rival once we go into the A-10? Does it become Xavier since we already have a rivalry with the other school in that city? I know…too early to know the answer…but still, Im curious to see which school takes over that role…if anyone.

Everything that I read makes me think that Dayton is the most disliked team in the A-10. I don’t know why.

I think a good place to look is the teams that we have mirror games with for the next couple of seasons. I believe those would be Richmond, Dayton, and George Washington. There is a good possibility to get something going between those schools considering we will be playing twice a year home and away. I think that the GW games should be fun to watch, but only time will tell who we become rivals with.

Their fans are brutally bad.

A-10 had 2 teams in the Elite 8 and back to back NPOY. People that think we will dominate are dillusional. They had the #1 team in the USA for a long time last year. They will be a 4-5 bid conference year in year out very soon. They would likely have become that even without us joining. Richmond, Dayton, Xavier, UMass, Temple, SJU and GW are all pretty solid teams. We have had some really bad teams in CUSA (ECU, USF, Tulane, Houston [for most of their tenure in CUSA]).

Also, we were winless against the A-10 last year.

I’ve done a little verbal sparring with the Fordham people on other boards.
It’s kind of like running the 100 yard dash with a dolphin.
They told me Rose Hill is a “nasty place” to play. I told them that our guys all went to high school and had played in high school gyms. I was then banned from their board.
Touchy for New Yorkers.

rofl. nice.

the a-10 will be tough next year. they have bad programs but other conferences do too. look at clemson, unc-raleigh, & fsu.

i am excited about going there. it’s nice to be in a conference with teams excited about playing us.

we could easily be the team they all want to beat if we go deep in the tourney this year.

The A-10 could develop ABC fans (Anyone But Charlotte).

That's the funniest thing I've heard this week, and I married a Catholic girl!

I gotta disagree with you here, my friend. I’ve been to at least 1 Dayton game each year for about the last 5 years. They have 14,000 show up each game, whether or not the team is good, bad or indifferent. Their fans know basketball and support it, hence the fact that they have the “play-in” game every year, and are in the rotation as a 1st & 2nd round site.

I think he meant their fans are tough on opposing teams. Dayton has no pro-teams so the Flyers get the city’s full attention. The always lead the A-10 in attendance and are one of the top schools in attdance in all the nation. I believe there average is about 13,000 this year!! :o

Exactly. I didn't mean bad as in not supporting their team, I meant bad as in they are really rough on the opposing teams/fans.

Cincy and Xavier fans have both complained about Dayton fans. Richmond and GW fans also.

Sort of like ECU fans, except there are about 10k more of them, their program doesn’t suck and they live in a far more depressing place than Greenville.
