Looks like they are finally closing in on the next Bond. Maybe we can get a decent Bond movie. It’s been a while. The last one was a dud.
That’s a pretty cruddy picture of Harris. He looks more like Bond here:
I like Holland but he’s too short and has been playing a teenager too recently. The other two seem like better bets.
They all look young, but I guess they want to lock this actor in for 10 plus years.
That’s definitely the concern. Craig aged out faster than they wanted. He was 38 for Casino Royale.
At least they are all guys. So theres that.

Feeling like I need to do a top 5 racing movies list:
5. (Tie) Days of Thunder / Talladega Nights
The tie at 5 is because they’re both cheesy in their own way, and they’re also basically 2 different takes on the same story. I saw Days of Thunder in the theater opening weekend and I was geeked out that they filmed it here, but then Ricky Bobby was filmed here too.
4. Gran Turismo
This story about a video gamer turned racer worked a lot better than I thought it would. Believe it was loosely based on a true story.
3. Rush
#3 vs #2 was a tough choice. Rush is very underated. Daniel Bruhl is excellent as Niki Lauda, and Chris Hemsworth does a solid job as James Hunt, though it’s a little bit of a generic performance.
Ultimately I think the deciding factor for #2 was…
2. F1
The racing scenes are better in this movie than in Rush. Please do yourself a favor and see it in a proper Dolby theater. I saw it in a Regal RPX theater and it was worth the extra ticket price. So much more visceral. Had me on the edge of my seat like I was in the car with Brad Pitt.
And the winner is…(the others are good, but this one is not just a good racing movie, it’s quite simply one of the best movies made in recent years):
1. Ford vs Ferrari
I love this movie. It is endlessly re-watchable. Everything about it is a gem, and it is grossly underrated on IMDB (believe it is still just an 8.1). It should be at least a 9.1. it’s an all time classic. Anyone who questions whether Christian Bale can act - this is one of the movies that makes a tremendous argument in favor of him. The rest of the movie is well written, well paced, and the performances are great… the weakest is probably casting Bostonian Matt Damon as Texas born Caroll Shelby (Damon can act, he just can’t pull off the Texas vibe like someone who grew up there could). That said, it’s still fantastic. I watch this at least once every year.

The book Ford vs Ferrari is based on is an awesome book if you haven’t read it yet.

I’m worried about the story changes, but it sounds like it’ll look amazing regardless.
In the hands of talented people story changes from source material can be a good thing. They can mold the story to the movie form without losing what made it special.
I have faith in this director.
Did you guys hear that Villeneuve signed on to direct the next bond?
I was a little shocked by that.
I hope they let him cook and don’t try to mess with his process.
At this point he is almost at Tarantino level heater so they need to trust him.
Well, actually. Not sure anyone has been on interacting level heater other than Tarantino but he’s on a roll.
