In hindsight, that is a crazy comment but we thought nothing of it at the time. RIP KB. Prayers to his family as he leaves 2 little ones behind.
I don’t understand why he didn’t feel sick enough beforehand to go to the hospital. I didn’t think pneumonia and then sepsis could have such a sudden onset to cause what seems to have amounted to almost a sudden death. I don’t get it.
The sepsis stage is lightning fast. Like hours.
Why isn’t the truck #49?
NASCAR drivers get their numbers through their race teams rather than choosing them themselves. NASCAR owns all car numbers (00 to 99) and licenses them to teams annually. A driver’s number does not follow them if they change teams; instead, it stays with the organization that holds the license.
All the regular sizes sold out ![]()
Not sure if they are allowed to swap numbers, give them the 34 for the 49.
The No. 49 truck in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is fielded by CMI Motorsports, a team owned by driver Ray Ciccarelli. [1]
However, because CMI Motorsports is an independently operated, part-time team, the No. 49 truck does not run a full schedule and has had a rotating roster of guest drivers over the years. [1, 2]
I think the University is only on the truck for this race or maybe a few during the season. An owner is not going to go through the trouble to change numbers for a part time sponsor. It would be cool, but I don’t think it’s likely to happen.
Makes sense, didn’t know University was not full time sponsor. Thought maybe they were advertising the Motor Sports and Engineering Program. Which I have to think is pretty unique if that is what you want to get Racing industry as a career.
I’m disappointed that there isn’t a die cast of the truck.
