New Alabama State football Stadium

We will have to agree to disagree on this. I think we could sell suites much cheaper than the Bobcats and Panthers do. Another selling point for suites would be that at a college sporting event, suites could be the only place where you could get alcohol.

There are still ways to add ‘suites’ to our stadium without building permanent structures.

49rFBN, I like you and agree with most of your posts but I honestly think this is the kind of thinking that has kept us where we are right now. Our own biggest fans have zero confidence in our “program”. Suites are not an “extravagance” at all. All you have to do is a quick google search of FCS stadiums and you can quickly see that the majority have atleast a few suites and I’m not talking about just the Montana’s and Ap States.

Mr. Bo has it right.

And as 49erFBN mentioned, those schools are not battling multiple pro teams for suite tickets.

Hell, let’s phrase this better. If we had suites, would you actually feel comfortable with our AD trying to sell them? Seriously?

We could and would sell suites much cheaper than either team. That still would be a negative because we’d want them to pay for themselves. If the price is reduced they will take much longer to do that.

I assume by non-permanent suites you mean something along the line of suite trailers? These would most likely be unsightly and would block the view from where we’d want to put temporary bleachers.

Bottom line for me, I’d rather see the current sideline box be duplicated on the other side for suites then be known as Trailer U (and you know that would happen). And on that point there’s not enough money/demand right now.

Confidence in the program should stem from the leadership of the University and Athletics Department. Do I need to rehash why that’s an issue?

I’d love to have suites but I’d rather have lights, a video scoreboard and yes CharSFNiners, chairbacks for all FSL seats first. Now I can see where suites should come before chairbacks but not a scoreboard and lights.

If the demand for suites were there Judy would fulfill it. One thing she’s pretty good at is not letting money past her. I’m afraid our current big donors will be comfortable sharing the Chancellor’s Box. I hope that changes quickly but its obviously not there now.

Suites are popular at the FCS level but can be added later. See Central Arkansas: http://www.ucasports.com/sports/2010/12/17/FB_1217102634.aspx?id=70

Wow!! Now that’s what I call thinking outside the box. Building a residence hall and adding luxury football suites on top of it.

Like I said, we will have to agree to disagree on this. I’m not saying we have to have suites, but they are definitely money makers. Just remember that the Hornets ultimately left town because they didn’t have enough luxury suites in the Coliseum.

Would definitely not have temporary trailers out there. I was thinking more along the lines of something like the tents that are set up for the Quail Hollow Tournament. Maybe a little smaller scale than that. I remember NC State used something similar when they were building their new tower. Speaking of NC State, they have 51 suites that they sell, and you don’t think we can sell half a dozen or so?

We also have the hospitatlity area in the Field House and the patio out there. That area needs to be utilized to generate $$ if we are not going to have suites.

When we were at UT, they had rooms that used to be dorms in the FB building. We told Kelly to hook us up with a condo in the stadium.
