NEW AP POLL OUT

has anyone ever thought about how we are 3 points from being ranked in the top 10 right now?

I doubt too many people in Saint Louis saw it either due to the Rams-Falcons game, nor would many watch a 3-11 team on TV.

Yep, and we’d be an overranked top 10 team but none the less top 10. just the way duke is top 10(undefeated) but not all that impressive overall. of course if you are undefeated in a major conference you deserve to be top 10 at this point I suppose.

I’m suprised this team hasn’t had a few more blowouts in the 30 point range, games have been relatively close so far.

If we were somehow able to win both, there would be the opportunity to move up in the polls as our next two games would be TCU(home) and ECU(away). Those would be tough as well, but not as tough as the current week. I believe a win at Cincy, loss to Marquette, followed by two wins would get us ranked. I’m not so sure if we lose to Cincy and win at Marquette that it would do us as much good.

Here’s to hoping we finally break through!

I was going to say the same thing. Thanks for saving me the time.

that post is the truth. this is a dangerous team that no one wants in march.

I just hope they’re dangerous to someone other than our hopes.

maybe…just maybe, we will see the team we have been waiting to see all season on wed night…we step up, get a big W. then cincy gets back in the groove and beats wake… huge.

Someone said it in another thread:

We find ourselves again with an opportunity to get some kind of national attention. Game on ESPN2. Nine game winning streak. Hopeful top 25 ranking (still have Marquette though). How will we perform?

This seems to happen to us every year. We get close and then come out flat. I’m not trying to be pessimistic but our track record does not give me a lot of confidence. I don’t know how many times we have been in this position since I have been a Niners fan (1992) but we always have trouble breaking through.

Maybe this is the year. I will be glued to the TV and yelling at the refs. My wife will probably go to another room! GO NINERS!

Most likely scenario, we will lose to Cincy and beat Marquette.

Best is obviously to blow them both out and worst is to get blown out by both teams.

I would rather have a win over Cincy, but I will take a split happily. I think we can’t afford to lose more than 3 games in conference to have a legitamate chance at a Sweet 16. Sure, this team could catch fire late in the season (see:Xavier), but I would rather know that this team is good and can get it done day in, day out.

Still, it’s only half way through the season, and a lot can happen between now and then. I just hope this team gets the most out of the season as it can.
