Pennies apparently cost up to 4 cents to make, but nickels cost 14 cents to make.

While the value of a penny is meaningless anymore, this seems more like a move towards getting rid of hard currency / going full digital.

Oddly, one of the first things I thought of was playing penny poker. Simpler times.

In 2001, UNC-Charlotte was the first university in North Carolina to be federally accredited in cybersecurity defense, and the 11th nationwide. Today there are more than 450 schools with the designation, including 23 in North Carolina. Each year, over 100 students graduate from UNC-Charlotte’s computer science program with a cybersecurity concentration. The university also offers a master’s in cybersecurity, which graduates about 50 students a year.

UNC-Charlotte also hosts the state’s longest running and oft sold-out cybersecurity conference, which is well attended by representatives from banking, healthcare, energy, and government. For years the school has coordinated with a network of public and private universities, community colleges, and industry members on research, education, and workforce development through a coalition called the North Carolina Partnership for Cybersecurity Excellence. But UNCC is not part of the Carolina Cyber Network.

ā€œI’m a little bit puzzled, I guess is the right way to put it,ā€ said Chu, the UNCC cybersecurity program’s founding chair. ā€œThis [the network] is a great initiative; the more the better for the state. We wanted to figure out a way to connect with the cyber network, and they didn’t seem to be really that interested.ā€

So no more TACO trade, then? :taco:

Completely corrupt and/or dumb.

ā€œSome legislators told The Assembly that North Carolina’s public universities weren’t doing cybersecurity training or teaching ethics, which the UNC System schools strongly contest.

Maurer said Montreat is better positioned to teach cybersecurity ethics than public universities and colleges.

ā€œWe have a unique opportunity as a faith-based institution, because we teach to character and ethics in all of our classrooms, we hire to character and ethics in our hiring practices. The state doesn’t do that anymore; they can’t do it anymore,ā€ Maurer told The Assembly.ā€

The person that said we don’t have a technical problem we have a people problem was misguided but actually correct.

I work in the cybersecurity field and we don’t have enough qualified people available. It’s been hard for us to fill our positions with really qualified people. The problem is that in many areas of cyber you need someone with experience in other areas of IT first to get them ready to operate effectively in cyber. They need experience in IT OR they need to be simply outstanding.

I am proud to say that recently I had an opening for an entry level cybersecurity engineer on my team and this happened:

I interviewed a young man from UNC Charlotte who was about to graduate with a CS degree with a cyber focus and he was just outstanding. He would have been an instant offer if I could have afforded him. He already had a better offer on the table that would require him to move but wanted to stay in charlotte so had applied with us. I advised him to take the job of course. If he is representative of our CS grads we have a very very good program indeed.

Real Estate market has been propped up by institutional buyers… Median home buyer age is all the way up to 59 years old, which is ridiculous.

Whole thing is about to go…
