Brief mentions in various post-game articles after Maryland played Elon. I’ll post pre-game articles for Charlotte as they show up…
Saturday's game against Charlotte should provide Maryland with a stiffer test just before conference play approaches. The 49ers are 4-6, including a one-point loss to Clemson and a five-point loss to Providence. In last year's game at Charlotte, the Terps won by just four.http://www.hometownannapolis.com/cgi-bin/read/2008/12_31-41/SPO
Vasquez scored a game-high 17 points and Milbourne added 14 for the Terrapins, who host Charlotte (5-6) on Saturday afternoon at 4.“We got caught at the start of the second half not playing very well,” Williams said. “Elon is a steady team that will take advantage if you make mistakes. We had to turn it up a notch. We hit some threes to break it open. That’s not something you can do as the season moves on here, including this Saturday with Charlotte.”

There are two schools of thought on Maryland's nonconference basketball schedule. One is that the Terrapins played Michigan State, Gonzaga, Georgetown and Michigan — four teams most would now consider good-to-near-certain bets to make the NCAA tournament. And in 10 games total (soon to be 14), that’s perfectly acceptable.
The other is the reality Maryland still hasn’t played a true road game, won’t until Jan. 14, and other than Vermont (and arguably, a week from tomorrow, Charlotte) will not bring anyone of repute into Comcast Center the ACC didn’t tell it to play.

So apparently Vermont is more reputable than Charlotte? Ouch. Can we please start winning games again? :unhappy:
we are 5-6 instead of 4-6. the article must have been written before last night’s game. nice article about the game by the annapolis paper. and far enough in advance for the locals up there to grab some tickets.
I’m excited about this game even though it will be a tough day for me. My Aunt Mary is a vet at the sea turtle rescue center at Topsail Island so I have a hard time pulling against any team that has a turtle as it’s mascot. I won’t know for sure until closer to game time, but I may have to pull for the Terps.
:49ers:
I don’t fear the turtle, but I already fear this Closet character. My gaydar is acting up, he must have some UNC-Chapel Hill fetishes as wel…
Why do you have to pick on UNC-CH? Aren’t we part of the same big happy family that is the University of North Carolina?
Closet, all families have black sheep, errr rams.
I guess that’s true.
BTW, you need to get your gaydar checked out. Hopefully, it’s still under waranty.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Is anybody going anywhere to watch the game in Charlotte? What time is tip-off? (Sorry, too lazy to look it up)

There is a thread somewhere about meeting up at Picasso’s. I plan on making it out if others are going.
What the hell is comcast mid-atlantic? I’m down at Myrtle Beach and I will be looking for somewhere to watch the game, but I don’t want the crazy looks when I ask the bartender(s) if they get “comcast mid-atlantic” … any ideas?
